IIT Bhilai Infrastructure Details

Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Bhilai, offers modern amenities for a better learning experience. The campus is equipped with a library, hostel, sports facilities, labs, etc. Some of the highlighting features of the IIT Bhilai infrastructure are listed below.

Library: IIT Bhilai's intellectual hub is the central library. It is a learning resource centre that assists students, research scholars, faculty members, and staff members in their teaching and learning activities. Koha, the most functionally sophisticated open source ILS, is used by IIT Bhilai. The books are encoded, catalogued, and computerized using the new technology system. Even on weekends, the IIT Bhilai library is available to the public.

Hostel: IIT Bhilai is a fully residential institute with separate females and boys dorms. The hostel and academic buildings are within a three-hundred-meter radius of each other. Within the IIT Bhilai campus, there are two hostels: Castle Ena and Castle Dio. Currently, about 80 female students and 450 male students can live on campus full-time. A large dining hall, a well-equipped leisure room, an indoor gaming area, and a fitness Centre are all available at the hostels. The IIT Bhilai hostel is Wi-Fi enabled with a LAN network in each student room. In addition, each floor has an RO-based drinking water system and heavy-duty washing machines.

Health Centre: The IIT Bhilai campus area has a health centre open 24 hours a day. The doctors and staff are dedicated to the students health and the well-being of the campus community. In addition, IIT Bhilai has partnered with local hospitals to provide medical aid in an emergency. The facility has a fully equipped ambulance on hand at all times.

IT Infrastructure: IIT Bhilai facilities include two computer laboratories equipped with the latest amenities. The labs have 145 desktops with 16GB RAM and 1TB hard drives powered by Intel i7 8th Gen processors, 12 Dell PowerEdge R 630 & 740 servers with Xeon processors and about 300 TB SAN storage.

Sports: Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai students practice games like cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and football. Indoor sports such as table tennis, snooker, carrom, and chess are also offered to students at the dormitories. A well-equipped gymnasium is created within the academic block to assist students with general fitness training. Prayatna, an inter-IIT sports league hosted yearly at IIT Bhilai, attracts the majority of the student body to compete in various games.
