The International Maritime Institute (IMI), established in 1991, is a private marine engineering college in North India. It is the only institute in the region offering a B.Tech program affiliated with the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai. IMI Greater Noida provides Pre-Sea courses like Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Tech in Marine Engineering, and Graduate Mechanical Engineering, along with Post-Sea and value-added courses. The institute is approved by AICTE and the Directorate General of Shipping, and it holds an A1 'Outstanding' grade from the RINA and the Indian Register of Shipping. IMI offers a range of courses in Nautical Science, Engineering, and related fields.

Admission Overview

• Admission Criteria: Entrance-based (IMU CET, OPEN-NET, PST).
• B.Tech Admission: For B.Tech, eligibility requires 10+2 with PCM and 60% aggregate, and candidates must clear the IMU-CET exam.
• B.Tech Lateral Entry: Requires a Diploma in Mechanical/Marine Engineering with 60% and successful completion within 3 years.
• Diploma in Nautical Science: Open to candidates with 10+2 in PCM and 60% aggregate or B.Sc with 60%.
• GME/Diploma in Marine Engineering: Open to BE/B.Tech (Mechanical/Naval Arch) graduates with 50% marks and 60% in English.

Selection Process

• B.Tech: Based on IMU-CET results and counselling.
• Lateral Entry: Based on Pre-Screening Test (PST) and interview.
• DNS: Based on OPEN-NET exam merit.
• GME: Based on aptitude, IQ, reasoning tests, and interview.

International Maritime Institute Placements

IMI partners with top shipping companies like Maersk, MSC, and Dynacom for campus placements. Deck cadets need sponsorship from a reputable shipping company for DNS course admission. Engine cadets in the B.Tech ME and GME courses participate in placement drives during their 7th and 2nd semesters, respectively. To prepare, candidates undergo Personality Development classes, General Aptitude & Reasoning Ability tests, internal assessments, and mock interviews. IMI's goal is to ensure all cadets are placed before graduation.
