Teachers will have to shape up so that they possess the skills in applied technology, to be able to use state-of-the-art hardware and computer programmes in the networked teaching environment. Ability to use numerically-based information such as statistics, graphs, flow charts and spreadsheets, would be an asset. The initial feedback from US public schools, about Indian teachers, is positive. Of course, it remains to be seen if the teachers would like to pursue this in the long term, as teaching does pay comparatively less than most other occupations in the US.
