The Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) was established in 2000 through a collaborative vision of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Shri Jai Prakash Gaur, the Founder Chairman of the Jaypee Group. The State Government provided land on lease, and the university was officially established under Act No. 14 of 2002, as notified in the Extraordinary Gazette of Himachal Pradesh on May 23, 2002. It received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act via Letter No. F 9-10/2002(CPP-1) dated December 9, 2002. JUIT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Academic operations began in July 2002, offering undergraduate B.Tech programs in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Computer Engineering, and Information Technology. Postgraduate programs include M.Tech degrees in various specializations, such as Biotechnology (Industrial and Medical), Civil Engineering (Structural, Construction Management, and Environmental), Computer Science & Engineering (including Information Security and Data Science), Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Internet of Things. M.Sc. programs are offered in Biotechnology and Microbiology. The university also offers PhD programs across diverse disciplines, including Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Materials Science. JUIT has been accredited by NAAC in three cycles (2011, 2017, and 2024). In its third cycle, the university earned an A+ grade with a commendable score of 3.40. The JUIT campus spans 25 acres of scenic, green slopes in Waknaghat, Solan District, Himachal Pradesh. The pollution-free campus enjoys pleasant weather year-round, with summer temperatures peaking at 32–35°C for only a month. The campus boasts world-class infrastructure designed by M/S Arcop Associates Pvt. Ltd., a renowned Canadian architectural firm based in Montreal.

Application Process and Eligibility

Jaypee University of Information & Technology (JUIT), Solan, was established in 2002 and offers a variety of programs, including seven specializations under B.Tech, four under M.Tech, and eight under the Ph.D. program. The B.Tech is a full-time, four-year undergraduate program with 510 seats available, while the M.Tech is a two-year full-time program with an intake capacity of 18 seats per specialization. JUIT also offers Ph.D. programs in both full-time and part-time formats, with the option of a sponsored Ph.D.

• Application Fee: INR 1200 for B.Tech, INR 1000 for M.Tech/Ph.D.

Eligibility

• B.Tech: A minimum of 60% aggregate in 10+2.
• M.Tech: A minimum of 60% aggregate marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale in undergraduate studies.
• Ph.D.: Admission is merit-based. Candidates with NET/SLET/UGC/CSIR (JRF) are exempt from the entrance exam. Other candidates must appear for the entrance test, and selection is based on merit.
• M.Sc.: Admission is based on merit in the UG program. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST) in UG is required.
• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics & Computing: Admission is based on merit in the 10+2 examination, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC/ST) and Mathematics as a compulsory subject.

Admission Criteria

• B.Tech: Based on JEE Main scores.
• M.Tech: Based on GATE or PGET conducted by JUIT.
• Ph.D.: Admission is merit-based, considering the entrance exam scores where applicable.
• M.Sc. and B.Sc.: Admission is based on merit

Reservation

10% of the total seats are reserved for candidates from Himachal Pradesh who have completed their education in the state.

Scholarships

William Webster Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship

This scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver up to a maximum of Rs. 25,000 for eligible students. To qualify, the combined annual income of the student's parents or guardian must be Rs. 1.5 lakhs or less. Eligibility is determined based on the following weightages.

• Class 10: 15%
• Class 12: 35%
• B.Tech 1st Semester: 50%
• An income certificate issued by the competent authority should be submitted along with the application.

Eligibility for Continuation

To continue receiving the scholarship in subsequent years, students must meet the following criteria

• Maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale.
• The combined income of the parents/guardian must remain under Rs. 1.5 lakhs per annum.

Sri Badrika Ashram (SBA) Emerging Youth Scholarship & Mentorship Scheme

The Sri Badrika Ashram (SBA), founded by the esteemed Om Swami in 2011, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community and nearby villages. The SBA Emerging Youth Scholarship & Mentorship Scheme is aimed at supporting meritorious students from BPL families. The scholarship offers Rs. 50,000 per year for undergraduate students, along with mentorship from distinguished mentors from diverse fields. Students wishing to apply for this fellowship must submit their application and required documents during the application period.
