Jhargram Raj College is located in the town of Jhargram and an area is a place of natural beauty. The college is set on an enormous campus of 313 acres amid the serene forests. It has registered tremendous growth over the years since its beginning. Founded in 1949 as Jhargram Agricultural College, Jhargram Raj College grew into a hallowed centre of higher learning, offering to the undergraduate students a whole array of subjects from three disciplines of Arts, Commerce and Science.

Initially, the college was affiliated with the University of Calcutta and then the college came under affiliation with Vidyasagar University in 1985. In 2005, the college introduced its first Postgraduate course in Chemistry. Gradually, Postgraduate courses in Zoology and Bengali also came into being from 2006 and 2008, respectively. 

The faculties consistently engage in seminars, workshops etc. and their research papers are continuously published in renowned journals and periodicals. These aspects lead to involve and inspire the students, especially those who are pursuing postgraduate courses in this college, to a research career. In its existence, the college has seen many changes with time and it has been prepared correspondingly to manage the changes and offer better education to its students.

There are totally three departments to look after all the courses and curriculums of the students. Each department has set its own objectives and goals to complete curriculum of the subject. All three departments provide several subjects for students to opt for. Students can choose which subject they are interested in pursuing. To get admission into the two year of post graduate degree course, the candidate the must have passed his/her Higher senior secondary examination (10+2) and degree examnation, with specific combination of the subjects from a recognized education board. • The process of admission for the academic session 2020-21 of Jhargram Raj College will be done strictly on online merit-based system as per the Govt. Orders issued by the Higher Education Department, Govt of West Bengal and Vidyasagar University notifications from time to time.
• As per rules,candidates belonging to SC/ST category must secure at least 75% of the marks obtained by the last General category candidate in order to be eligible for admission.
• As per rules, candidates belonging to OBC(A) /OBC(B) must secure at least 90% of the marks obtained by the last General category candidate in order to be eligible for admission.
• As per rules, in case of absence of suitable candidates in reserved seats, SC seats may be filled up with ST candidates and vice versa. Similarly, OBC-A seats may be filled up with OBC-B candidates and vice versa.
• The admission schedule may be subject to change under unavoidable circumstances.
