In 1873, Midnapore College, Medinipur, was established. The institute was established as a Zilla School in 1834, flipping back to the pages of the history of Midnapore College, and then later, in 1873, it was converted into a Midnapore School. The status of Midnapore School was raised to that of college in the year 1873, and thus Medinipur, Midnapore College, came into being. Midnapore College has been ranked 32nd in the College category by NIRF 2024.
