Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB
Candidates seeking admission to the First semester of the Five Year LL.B.(BA.LLB) Course:
- Shall have passed any Higher Secondary examination of the Govt. of Kerala/Pre-degree examination of the Kerala University or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Kerala University,
- Shall not have scored less than 45% marks in the aggregate.
- The candidates for admission that have passed 10+2 with a minimum score of 45% and 40% (in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe)
- They are above or the age of 17.
Eligibility Criteria for LLB
Candidates seeking admission to the First semester of the three year LL.B. Course:
- Shall have passed any degree examination of the Kerala Academy of Law, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Kerala Academy.
- Shall have not scored not less than 45% marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination.
- The candidate for admission should is required to be a citizen of India and must have graduated in any college of the University of Kerala or an equivalent college.
- The candidates for admission is required to have passed their Bachelor’s examination with a minimum of 45%. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe need 40 % score to be eligible to apply for this course.
- Candidates that are appearing for the final exams of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for this course.
Application Process for BA LLB, LLB
All applications for admission shall be in the prescribed form, and shall be submitted so as to reach the Principal, not later than the date notified by the Principal at the beginning of each academic year.
The number of students to be admitted shall not ordinarily exceed 100 in each semester for each batch of the LL.B. (Three year semester) Course unless specially authorized by the Academy. The sanctioned strength of each semester of the LL.B. (Five year) Course is 80.
The procedure for application is as follows:
- The candidates for admission must log on to Kerala entrance examinations website to register themselves and generate the application number and password.
- The candidates for admission should log in to apply online and fill the application form with all the relevant information.
- Upon successful submission of completed admission applications, candidates should take the print out of the admission application form and Bank Challan to deposit the processing fee.
- Candidate must submit the fee through the Bank Challan at the assigned State Bank of Travancore
- Along with the printout of the admission application form, candidate must attach copies of the following documents:
- Original challan.
- Self attested copy of SSLC or any equivalent school records / birth certificate/ other valid document to prove date of birth.
- True copy of the pass certificate mark list of all parts of the qualifying examination (if passed).
- Non-Creamy Layer Certificate in support of the claim for communal reservation for SEBC in an original.
- Community Certificate in support of claim for communal reservation for SC/ST in original.
- Inter-Caste marriage Certificate, in which one of the parents belongs to SC/ST if applicable (original).
- Original certificate in support of special reservation, if applicable (in the prescribed format).
- Attested copy of Certificate from the Medical Board for Persons with Disabilities.
- Any other documents mentioned in the Notification of the Admission Entrance Examination.
Admission Process for BA LLB, LLB
The following section contains information regarding the selection process for admission of LL.B./LL.M. offered by Kerala Law Academy.
Admission of candidates will be done on the basis of their performance and rank in the Admission Entrance Exam. The entrance exam will be held for a duration of 3 hours and consist of 200 objective type questions based on the following topics:
- General English (65 Questions)
- General knowledge and (65 Questions)
- Aptitude for legal studies (70 Questions)
For each correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 1 mark while one mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
- In the case of a tie with respect to the total marks scored in the admission entrance examination, the candidate who secure higher marks in the part ‘Aptitude for legal Studies’ of the Entrance Examination will be placed higher in the ranking.
- If the tie still exists, the candidate with higher marks in the part ‘English’ of the Entrance Examination will be placed higher in the ranking.
- If the tie persists, the age of the candidate will be taken into consideration and the elder will be placed higher than the younger candidate.
To qualify for admission to LL.B Course, general category candidates should get at least 10% of total marks in the Admission Entrance Examination. SC/ST candidates for admission should score a minimum of 5% of total marks.
