Madras School of Social Work was founded by Mary Clubwala Jadhav under the auspices of Madras State Branch of the Indian Conference of Social Work. The school is run under the aegis of the Society for Social Education and Research. Admission to this college is done on a merit basis. Admission to MSSW is done through an entrance exam conducted by the college. The college has developed a transparent and efficient admission process for aspiring candidates in 2024. Candidates need to score good marks in the entrance exam in order to take admission in this college. The entrance test will test the applicants in the areas of General Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude/ Data Interpretation, Reading Comprehension/ Verbal Ability, Social Awareness and General Knowledge. After filling the application form, a candidate can make the payment in different ways as per their choice either by Demand Draft, Cash or Payment Gateway. Candidates need to follow the procedures properly. Every year application form is released by the college. The candidates will be admitted strictly in accordance with the merit secured at the Entrance Examination keeping in view the rules in force regarding the reservations of seats of various categories of candidates.
The fee includes tuition fees, examination fees, soft skills, mandatory certificate courses, University charges (Admission fees, Convocation fees, Permanent pass register fees), library, campus development, and all curricular activities. The full First-year fee or First Installment must be paid at the time of Admission. The subsequent Annual fees and/or installments must be paid within one month after semester reopening. MSSW Fees for UG consists of INR 1,38,550/- IN B. Sc. specialization and INR 1,32,500 for B. Sc. PG Courses Fees are INR 1,39,400/- for M. Sw and M. A OF INR 1,48,900. Caution Deposit of INR 1,500/- and Alumni membership fee of Rs.500 is included in the First-year Fees. On graduation, the Caution deposit will be returned after deductions if any. The full First-year fee or First Installment must be paid at the time of Admission. If paying by Installment, INR 1,000/- has been added to the second installment towards processing fee. PG Students registering for placement services through Placement Cell of the college will have to pay INR 1000/- while registering at the beginning of 2nd year.
Madras School of Social Work offers the BSW and B.Sc. courses at the UG level. Applications to the Bachelor in Social Work and B.Sc. courses are accepted from candidates who have passed 10+2 from any stream. Admission to the BSW and B.Sc. courses will be done on the basis of merit in the qualifying 10+2 examination. Candidates must be less than 21 years of age to be eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ BC/ MBC/ DNC categories will receive a relaxation of 5 years in the age requirement to be satisfied to be eligible to apply. Candidates will be called for a counseling process by the college based on merit. The seats will be allocated during this process.

Applications to the MSW and M.A courses will be accepted from candidates who have completed graduation of a minimum of 3 years from any discipline. Applicants to the M.Sc. course must have completed graduation of a minimum three years duration from the Psychology or Counseling Psychology streams. Admission to the Master of Social Work, M.Sc. and M.A. courses will be done on the basis of scores obtained in an entrance test, followed by a performance in the group discussion and personal interview rounds, which will be conducted by the college. Phil and Ph.D. courses will be done on the basis of merit in the qualifying degree examination. The PG degree should be of two years duration.
