TNOU was established in the year 2002 as a public university focusing on imparting education in Open and Distance Learning (ODL). It was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is recognized by national bodies like University Grants Commission (UGC), DEB, AAOU, ACU and many others. Admission 2024 depends on the final selection of the candidates. It is based on the completion of the qualifying exam followed by counselling.

TNOU Admission 2024

Tamil Nadu Open University [TNOU], Chennai admission 2024 will be done online through the official website of the university. The form along with supporting documents like mark sheets, certificates, applicant’s photo and signature etc. need to be submitted. Thereafter, admission into all the courses is based on a merit list issued by the university based on the marks obtained by the students in their qualifying exams.

TNOU Eligibility Criteria

TNOU has set some eligibility criteria for all the courses. All the applicants for admission into the courses offered by the university must satisfy the below-mentioned eligibility criteria before applying for admission. Candidates failing to meet the eligibility criteria will not get through the admission process. 

MA Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from any recognized university or a bachelor’s degree in Tamil under part - I from any recognized university. 

M.Sc Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed their Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

•  Candidates need to pass in bachelor’s examination in any stream with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

TNOU Chennai offers sufficient infrastructure facilities to its students for their quality learning. Many of these facilities are targeted toward fulfilling the need of providing distance education. For instance, the Electronic Media Production and Research Centre (EMPRC) works to produce quality audio-visual learning content for its distance learning students. It also does video conferencing for live interaction between students and experts/ faculties for knowledge exchange. TNOU Placements

TNOU has a Student Placement Cell (SPC) that was set up in July 2016 with the aim of providing employment opportunities to the students of TNOU Chennai. These employment opportunities are not only for the final recruitments but it is also for internship placements. TNOU Scholarships

TNOU offers scholarships for all eligible candidates under various categories. Differently abled students pursuing education at this university are eligible for tuition fee exemption. The candidate must apply for the same along with the disability certificate. Moreover, the SC/ ST students pursuing formal distance education are eligible for reimbursement of fees, if they are not employed and if the annual income of their parents is less than Rs. 1 Lakh. The students should apply for scholarships in the prescribed form available at the Offices of Adi Dravidar/ Tribal Welfare Department, which is to be submitted along with the supporting documentation required.
