National Institute of Science and Technology Berhampur offers merit scholarships to deserving and meritorious students. In addition to course-wise merit scholarships, NIST Berhampur also offers sibling and employee scholarships.

An Industry Collaboration Scholarship is also offered to students who participate in a funded industry collaboration project. The scholarship or awards are given based on the agreement made with the relevant organization, client, or industry.

B.Tech Merit Scholarships Based on JEE Rank

Merit Scholarships for Lateral Entry

The merit scholarships are available exclusively for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, & Electrical and Electronics Engineering lateral entry students. There are no scholarships available for students in the LE CS (CSE, CST, IT) and LE ECE disciplines. The details for these scholarships are tabulated below.

M.Tech Scholarships

NIST offers INR 5,000 to the students with a valid GATE Score. The students can avail of the scholarships provided by the government as per the AICTE norms.

MBA Scholarships

The details for these scholarships are listed below.

• 30% Tuition Fee Waiver for securing a mark >=80% or 8.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5.
• 20% Tuition Fee Waiver for securing a mark >=70% or 7.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5.

M.Sc Scholarships

The details regarding the NIST M.Sc Scholarships are listed below.

• 30% Tuition Fee Waiver for securing a mark >=80% or 8.5 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.5.
• 20% Tuition Fee Waiver for securing a mark >=75% or 8.0 CGPA in graduation. To avail of the scholarship in the second year, the student must have no backlog in any semester with a CGPA >=8.0.

Ph.D Merit Scholarships

The full-time Ph.D. scholars get a monthly fellowship of INR 25,000 for 3 years. They assist in taking lectures and labs. Apart from this, the Ph.D students can also obtain financial aid from external funding agencies, including UGC, CSIR, NBHM, DST, DAE, and industry.

Sibling Scholarship

Sibling scholarships are available to the immediate siblings of a student or alumni on a one-time basis. The scholarship amount awarded is INR 10,000.

Employee Immediate Relation Scholarship

The spouses and children of the permanent NIST employees receive a 20% tuition fee waiver annually while pursuing their studies.

Research Assistantship

National Institute of Science and Technology Berhampur offers research assistantships to students for research purposes or to assist faculty in research. Up to 5 students from either the 3rd or 4th year will be awarded this scholarship after a selection process.

Students usually need to have achieved a 9.0 CGPA without any backlog. Selected students would receive a monthly stipend of INR 3000 for three months.

Teaching Assistantship

NIST Berhampur offers teaching assistantships for the students to enable faculty to support academic teaching activities (e.g., lab support, grading, etc.). A maximum of 5 students per batch (3rd year or 4th year students) based on the selection process receive this scholarship.

The students must have secured a 9.0 CGPA without a back paper. Selected students receive an amount of INR  3000 per month for five months.

 Industry Collaboration Scholarships

The Industry Collaboration Scholarship is offered to students who participate in a funded industry collaboration project. The scholarship or awards are given based on the agreement made with the relevant organization, client, or industry.

Awards

• Best B.Tech. Project Award: Each year, the best B.Tech. Projects are selected under different categories like Software Development, Hardware Development, Renewable energy, and so on. These projects with a cash prize of INR 5000 each.
  
  
• Sankalp Function Awards: This award is funded by voluntary contributions of faculty and staff to encourage and create bonding with the students. A jury selects the awardees during various tech fest activities run by the students.
