North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences is an autonomous institution which was established in the year 1987 by the government of India under the Meghalaya Registration of Society Act. It is the first Postgraduate Medical Institute in the North Eastern Region. The institution is named after (L) Smt. Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India. This institution is affiliated to Northern Eastern Hill University.

The institution campus spreads across 273 acres of lush green environment, located in a beautiful place in Shillong, Meghalaya. The campus has all the basic amenities which students require from classrooms, library, research centres and many more. NEIGRIHMS offers programmes from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. 3. Admission into PG courses for the session 2020-21 has ben started, and counselling is going on.
4. Admission into UG course of MBBS will be done after the declaration of NEET examination, followed up by the counselling.
