Laboratories

Engineering comprises a blend of both theoretical knowledge and practical work. Excellent laboratory facilities and workshops are provided for students. For details please see each department page.

Library

OCEM library is well equipped with 27000 text and reference books by both Indian and Foreign authors. Print plus online abstracting, indexing and full text periodicals, CD-ROM databases, technical reports, standards and thesis are important parts of this collection. The library is open from 8.00 pm on Sunday and Gazzetted holidays and for 24 hours during the three examinations each semester.

Research Facilities

Research and development activities are closely related in the various engineering courses. To meet the persistent demands of industry and business houses with whom the institution has longstanding and intimate contacts, the infrastructure facilities are provided by the way of sophisticated instruments and specialized expertise in various fields.

The institute has started a project for production of Bio Diesel with an investment of Rs. 5 crores with research and development activities in the area which will also create employment opportunity to our students.

Seminar/Symposium/Workshop

OCEM organizes seminars/workshops on various topics at regular intervals through eminent professors/personnels/executives of different streams for the intellectual development of the students.

Industrial Tours

OCEM emphasizes that the students of 3rd, 5th & 7th semesters of various departments go on study tours every year under the guidance of the respective faculties to acquire practical knowledge which is vital during their study.

Language Laboratory

The sophisticated Language Laboratory, with computer controlled audio video components is an important aid to the teaching of languages & communication skills in the Institute. Its major use is for teaching English courses but it is also used for teaching communicative courses in foreign languages like French, German, Japanese & Koreans. The integration of audio and video in language teaching has given a boost to language teaching methodology at the Institute.

Cafeteria

The centrally located well furnished cafeteria with modern hygienic kitchens offering variety of foods and refreshment. The canteen provides working lunch for all the students and staff during the launch hours at a very nominal rate.

Co-operative Society

The college has a well-stocked corporative society to serve the needs of students & staff. It is kept open during the working hours of the college. The store is managed by the board of directors elected from students & the staff of the college.

Students Welfare

OCEM has a student welfare committee under the chairmanship of the chief advisor comprising of the Director, all HODs & representatives of the students to look after the welfare of the students. This committee recommends scholarship, educational loans, financial aids, free studentship etc. to the students.

College Magazine

The college brings out a magazine every year which provides an opportunity to the staff & students to bring forth their valuable scholarly creative capabilities. The magazine pubushes both technical & non-technical articles.

Sports

The college has created a playground of nearly 8000 sq. mtrs, for out-door games. The sports activities are regulated through the sports committee of the institution. The students also take part in various inter-college events and events at the state & national status.

Hostel

OCEM hostels for boys and girls have excellent amenities for comfortable living of the students. Each hostel is provided with TV, News dailies, Magazines, Acquaguard water and other basic amenities. Round the clock supervision & security is the priority. The hostels are regularly visited by the institute doctor. Study hour is maintained by faculties from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm everyday.

Health Care Centre

The campus Health Centre (HC) has a number of medical officers and is equipped with pharmacy, clinical lab, ECG facility. Emergency care is provided round the clock. Homoeopathic treatment is also available. Medical help in the city through the HC is also provided but any hospitalization cost outside the Health Centre is to be partially borne by the student.

Transport

The institution has its own bus facilities to meet the transport needs of students and staffs to commute to the campus from the various parts of the city at nominal cost fixed by the management.

Railway Concession

The facility for the issue of railway concessions has been extended to the Institute by the railway authorities. The OCEM Office adheres to the rules and regulations of Indian Railways. Details of this are available on www.indianrail.gov.in.

Life Insurance/ Educational Loans

Each Student admitted to this institution is insured for his life by a comprehensive life insurance scheme at nominal cost against any disability or mishap caused due to any accident. Educational loan can be arranged for eligible students from different nationalized banks as per their guidelines.
