Patna College is the oldest institution of Bihar for providing higher education in the state. It has left a deep impact on the life of the people here. Most of the important Colleges of Patna namely, Law College, Engineering College, Science College and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya were initially part and parcel of Patna College and that is why Patna College is often referred to as the ‘mother of all institutions.Patna College was established in 1863. This College envisaged the educational ideals of the twentieth century. Accordingly, this institution had to develop holistically, keeping in mind a total development, both intellectual and social and carved out, as a result a unique status of its own. For many years, Patna College had been the only institution to impart Postgraduate teaching in Arts and achieved excellence in Graduate and Under-Graduate teaching. After the bifurcation of the old Patna University on January 2, 1952, two new universities namely Patna University and Bihar University were established. This marked a new era for Higher Education in Bihar.

Patna College 2024

College is a constituent unit of Patna University. Eminent faculty members from various Post Graduate Departments and the commerce Department engage classes regularly at Patna College. Patna College needs no introduction as its name is sufficient to reflect its image in the academic history of the country in general and Bihar in particular. The College was founded on the 9th January 1863 and since then, it has been maintaining a high tradition of imparting quality liberal education under the traditional faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The College has produced an infinite number of the great academicians, administrators, social thinkers, advocates and researchers. It has been the temple of learning during the last 148 years and that is why this is known as the mother of higher education in Eastern India.

Patna College UG Eligibility and Admission Fee 

Admission to the proposed course requires minimum marks in 10+2 or equivalent. Admission to various Integrated courses requires minimum marks in the qualifying examination.
