College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are two hostels, one for girls and the other for boys. The hostel fee is minimum. Being located in the college street there are lots of PGs available at a cheap cost. The overall infrastructure is quite good, and it has proper maintenance and renovation from time to time.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Well there's usually an admission test for the course which is known as PUBDET. However, due to the pandemic, we had direct admission based on board results. The typical cutoff rate is quite high, more than 95 percent in most cases.

Placements & Internships : There's no internship/stipend for arts, but for Sciences and economics, there is a special cell.

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is really low, for Arts it's around 11k and for Sciences it's a bit high. There are many scholarships available on both merit and financial condition. Loans are not needed. One can talk to the administration if they can't bear the fees.

Academics & Faculty : Daily routine varies according to the subjects. However, teacher student interaction is very good. For English, it's one of the best departments where there's quality teaching. Overall experience is quite good.

Clubs & Associations : There are many clubs in the college starting from dance society, Arts society, drama society, debating society, gaming, and lots more. There are different sports and cultural events all throughout the year. However religious festivals are not celebrated as the college does not want to focus on any religion particularly. Overall college life is pretty good, but it depends on the students to be honest.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There is one hostel each for the male and female students of the University - the Eden Hindu Hostel for boys, and the Presidency University Girls' Hostel. The hostels are equipped with all the basic amenities necessary for accommodation. They also have their own libraries and a mess system.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Admission to Presidency University is done through their entrance exams, viz. PUBDET (for the Bachelor's courses) and PUMDET (for the Master's courses), that is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE) Board. Eligibility depends on whether or not the percentage of marks of one's last highest degree (Class XII board exams or Bachelor's degree) meets with the minimum marks required to apply to the course they want to pursue. Even if the marks of one's last highest degree is yet to be published, they can still appear for the entrance exam. However, the entrance exam scores will only be valid if the eligibility criteria are fulfilled later. The general cutoff for a Master's course (when I had applied back in 2018) was 55%. Reservation for SC/ST candidates was according to the State guidelines. All relevant information regarding the eligibility and procedure for admission can be availed in detail on the University website.

Placements & Internships : Job placements are conducted annually starting from around the end of a calendar year and continuing on to the next. Only the students of an outgoing batch are eligible for applying to these placements. Placements for internships are generally not conducted by the University as such. However, students do take up internships through sources outside the campus. The students of the Humanities streams are generally hired for job roles like Content Writing, Proofreading, Human Resource, Programme Analyst Trainee, by some of the well-known companies like Cognizant, Papertrue, and Adrosonic. The placement tests conducted by the companies are enough gruelling, to make sure that they hire only the best from the campus. However, since all the job roles are non-technical and entry-level, the average salary ranges around 3 to 4 lacs per annum.

Fees & Scholarships : Presidency University, [PU] Kolkata Fee Structure. The fee for my Humanities course is Rs 1260 per semester. The course fee includes the examination fee. The departments that conduct practicals and/or field visits may have a little higher fee structure. Loans are usually not needed, for students can avail scholarships based on their merit, and relevant to their needs. The notice for every other scholarship is on display on the LCD Screens throughout the Administrative Building, as well as on the University website.

Academics & Faculty : Classes are held in accordance with the college working timings, which is from 10 am to 5 pm. There are usually 3-5 classes on an average every day for 5 days a week, and each class is 50 minutes long, leaving some free periods and recess time. There are internal assessments or mid-semester exams, and end-semester exams conducted for each paper in the course. Projects and assignments, whether a part of the mid-semesters or not, include writing well-researched academic papers, conducting seminars, conferences, and other departmental events such as fairs. The more innovative and creative the professor is, the more eventful and enjoyable the projects they assign become. Classroom teaching quality is par excellence, not just because of the content taught, but also the methods implemented in teaching. Learning is not just limited to classrooms anymore, both literally and figuratively. Presidency University, Kolkata is one of the most well-reputed autonomous colleges in the nation, whose alumni includes many famous personalities who are revered nationally as well as internationally. Although the University is now quite infamous for politics among the Eastern college circle, the politics that the students here practice is one for the implementation and rightful conduction of every student's basic rights and duties as citizens of the nation. The overall college experience is really good and enriching here at Presidency University.

Clubs & Associations : There are various clubs and societies on campus, such as the art society, the quiz and knowledge acquisition society, and sports clubs include the football club, the badminton, and table tennis clubs. Our main cultural festival is called the Milieu that takes place in the late spring every year. Then there are three freshers' induction events, each conducted by the departments, the Students' Union, and the college. Apart from that, there are some more events and celebrations held throughout the year, such as the University Foundation Day, Teachers' Day, Independence Day, etc.The college life is overall very lively as well as enriching and motivating.
