S.P. Mandali's Prin.L.N.Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research popularly known as WeSchool is a progressive institute offering advanced education since 1977. Accredited by the NBA, their Mumbai campus is renowned for their PGDM programmes in Retail Management, Healthcare and Rural Management.
Students have shared mixed reviews on the compact yet charged campus. Welingkar Mumbai provides accommodation for students at a cost of INR 2.05 LPA. Students find the hostel fees slightly on the higher end, as it lacks primary facilities like food and house 3 students per room.
Moreover, the hostel is available on a first-come-first-serve basis and is situated 2 kms away from the main campus. Other basic amenities that comes with the hostel rooms are, Air conditioning, Fridge, Bed, Pillows, Cupboard, Iron and stand etc.
Since the hostel does not have its own mess, there are several eateries in and around the accommodation provided by the college, from where students can enjoy tea and simple snacks. Besides maintaining basic decorum, students do have to adhere to the rules and regulations per the third party hostel authorities.
Welingkar Mumbai displays a modern campus infrastructure with high levels of security with CCTV cameras and security personnels on each floor and exit and entry points. Students feel safe on-campus due to its reliable surveillance systems.
Authorities encourage students to be actively involved in ensuring the campus is secure, by strictly maintaining the code of conduct pertaining to non-involvement with political or religious groups, and violence on campus.
The B-school has many clubs in every programme, where events like seminars, guest lectures and innovation competitions and more are conducted a few times a year. Welingkar Mumbai focuses on developing managerial and leadership schools through the campus activities.
Authorities also conduct a good deal of hackathons at the campus which help students get an idea of how to work in a collaborative environment to come up with effective solutions. Other GPI events are also organised by student bodies and authorities.
The placement assistance provided by Welingkar Mumbai is decent, with students getting opportunities in top companies such as Accenture, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Schindler EY and more.
Placements for each department are operated individually, with the average placement package at INR 12.25 LPA. Students have expressed their satisfaction with the package and placement rate of 85%.
Additionally, the college provides executive and internship placements for students during their course tenure. Special attention and preparations are given to students appearing for interviews 5th semester onwards.
However, students from PGDM Media and Entertainment have had a bad experience with the placement assistance as there were not too many media firms which came to the campus for recruitment. This left a bad taste in the mouth of the college-goers.
