Established in the year 1964, the Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, is known for its various quality courses. The PRSU curriculum is designed as per the relevant industrial requirements. PRSU offers affordable and quality education for students from all the classes of the society.
However, the improper infrastructure and poor placements are matters of concern for education seekers at PRSU. Additionally, hostel facilities are also unsatisfactory and need good maintenance.

PRSU offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Law, Management, Humanities, Science, Education, etc. Pharmacy course at the Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University is famous for its efficiency and course structure.
PRSU curriculum is industry oriented and teaching is based on case studies which inculcate research abilities among students. Pharmacy, Certificate course in Yoga Education and Philosophy and MA in Philosophy are some of the famous courses offered at PRSU.
Admission to the PRSU courses can be done directly without any entrance exams. The best part of studying at PRSU is its affordable course fee. Undergraduate courses would cost around INR 7,000 to INR 50,000. Postgraduate courses cost around INR 3,500 to INR 80,000. Students can avail the benefits of the scholarship provided by PRSU. Scholarships will be provided based on the categories of the students, and their scores must be above 75% in their Higher Secondary Examination.
The faculties at PRSU are experienced and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. PRSU faculties are punctual and follow the timetable strictly. As they are very liberal, it makes them approachable and friendly.
Faculties make the classes interactive with interesting presentations. Faculties help students interested in research topics apart from their actual syllabus. Since the majority of students are from the local state, there is no language barrier for communication. Though the primary medium of instruction in PRSU is English, faculties can switch to Hindi and Chhattisgarhi languages when necessary.
Having a history of over 6 decades, PRSU has developed its infrastructure according to time. Spread over 300 acres, PRSU has 29 individual departments on the campus. The University provides all the basic facilities for its students through its infrastructure. PRSU has a well established library with 1,40,801 books and 2,881 ebooks.
The classrooms at PRSU are equipped with visual and audio tools, which help faculties to teach efficiently through presentations. However, students often feel that faculties must rely more on these means of teaching. PRSU laboratories are equipped with all the modern equipment and are well maintained.
PRSU campus has three hostels. Two hostels accommodate boys, and one hostel accommodates girls. The entire PRSU campus is under 24/7 CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety of students. Well-maintained garden, decent parking space, refreshment centre, and dedicated outdoor and indoor sports facilities are some of the salient features of the PRSU infrastructure.
PRSU campus has separate hostel buildings for girls and boys. Gandhi and Azad's hostels take boys as inmates and are situated within the campus. There are 3 hostel buildings dedicated to girls. The hostel rooms are spacious and well-furnished. The mess food of PRSU is satisfactory and yet needs improvement.
All the hostels are under 24/7 CCTV surveillance to ensure the safety of inmates. The hostel authorities respond to students' complaints and requirements and try to resolve the issues quickly. Former PRSU hostel inmates think they enjoyed their hostel life, and the University strictly prohibits ragging.
Though the PRSU hostel rules and regulations are liberal, inmates must stick to being present in their rooms by the stipulated time and follow specific rules.
With a history of over six decades since its existence, placements are unstable at PRSU. With over 5,000 students intake each academic year, hardly five per cent of them get placed. PRSU has a dedicated placement cell which conducts all the placements-related activities. Also, faculties provide training to prepare students for placements.
Last year, the average salary offered for UG candidates was 2.5 LPA and 2.7 LPA for PG students. Though the University has a good alumni network, it fails to invite big recruiting companies for placements.
Students of PRSU feel that campus life is exciting and jovial. Most students are localites, so there is not much diversity among students. Present and past students think that campus life is fun and they had the best days.
There is no much diversity among students as most of them belong to native state. Students must maintain atleast 75% attendance to be eligible for exams. However, students below 75% attendance must pay a fine of certain amount to be eligible for exams.
PRSU has dedicated student clubs that conduct all the year's cultural activities. PRSU does not impose any strict dress code, and there is no mandatory uniform. Also, PRSU rules and regulations are student-friendly, and students and faculties relationships are friendly.
A good and affordable place to pursue any offered degree apart from the unsatisfactory placements, PRSU is a go-to option for the students of Raipur. PRSU Being one of the oldest Universities, PRSU offers students better infrastructure and memorable learning experiences.
