The fee I paid in my two years was approximately between rupees 8000 -10000 Per annum. It increases substantially if you have computers as one your subject.
There are certain scholarships available for the students by the state government but these scholarships are based on the caste basis and not on the merit, which is sad. All the students of SC-ST category avail the benefits of these scholarships once they are inducted into the college.
Though the fee structure is quite convenient but still if you are not able to bear that then you can easily get it from the banks as few of them work in coordination with Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, like Central Bank of India.
Entrance Exams & Admissions :
Govt J.Y. Yoganandam College of Chhattisgarh is the college in which I had studied. It was an Autonomous College and affiliated to Pt.Ravi Shankar University (recognized by UGC). This college holds a significant history and is among the eldest colleges in Chhattisgarh.
The criteria to get into master's degree is the marks secured by you in your undergraduate course. The merit list is prepared according to that only. But the final decision lasts in the hands of the concerned department in which you are applying.
There is no provision of entrance examination in this college for the post graduate course but if you are applying for govt J.Y. Yoganandam College of Chhattisgarh then you need to clear the entrance examination which has started from the session 2016-17. Still, the department can conduct the basic tests (written or oral) to know your potential and check whether you are fit for the course or not.
The cutoffs vary every year. But since the marking scheme( of autonomous colleges) of the same university varies a lot so you may get advantage or disadvantage of that as there is no provision for normalization of marks. So getting a seat in your branch depends on your marks and the number of seats (which varies in every department). But it's mostly above 50%. This information can easily be obtained from the college.
Placements & Internships :
The faculty in Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, is highly qualified, efficient and dedicated. Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, won't give you any placement opportunities and it's more of a theoretical knowledge giving institution with less of a pragmatic approach. But yeah the timings of the college are not much, so you can pursue your hobbies, part time jobs, and other activities efficiently.
Overall it's good if you have the zeal to excel only in the field of academics.
Academics & Faculty :
The daily routine was better suited for the night owls as our classes used to start quite late. I guess never before 10 am in the morning. Rest the faculty has all the right to take classes at their own timings. We didn't have projects in Master's degree but had seminars, which are conducted by your own professors. Assignments are quite usual to make you understand the subject in a better way.
The quality and method of teaching are good but not very advanced like privatized colleges. The infrastructure is good and colleges are improving day by day.
The overall experience was good.
College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities :
Pt Ravishankar Shukla University doesn't have any hostel facility but you can get a hostel in the university arena which is almost 5-6kms from the college.
if you are looking for pg outside Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, you can get a good accommodation within rupees 3000 include food and everything.
There is small canteen run by the contractor in the Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, a government campus which can serve you snacks the whole day but no branded outlet is available in the college.
Speaking about the infrastructure of classes and labs, then you will get the government kinda feel, which is special I guess. But yeah the renovatuon work is in full swing to make it better. Wifi facility is available there which works in certain areas and even do not in certain ones. So you try your luck in this sense.
Clubs & Associations :
Student societies are present there which work effectively. Despite that, no fests are being celebrated there and they just conduct an Annual function every year.
The life in the college is not very happening unless you are into politics and all but it's good.
