Sammilani Mahavidyalaya was established on the 12th of December 1996, at the ambition of some academic entrepreneurs with a certain purpose to give knowledge and skill to the young generation of the region. Besides those academicians, the general public gave their dynamic co-operation in this effort. At first, the school started working from the Local secondary school. Santoshpur Vidyamandir and the classes were held in the evening. Within seven months, its new building was developed and the school was moved to its present location. The college has been certified by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) in 2005 and granted Grade ‘B’. It has also been assessed by the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal in January 2010 under the State Level Assessment Program (SLAP). The College was started with only three students, which is now running with more than 2000 students in the different departments of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The consistent dedication and moral support of Sri Buddhadev Bhattacharyya (former Chief Minister of West Bengal), Sri Kanti Bhusan Ganguli (former Minister of Sunderban Affairs), Govt. of West Bengal, the sincere dedication and guidance of Late Prof. Rama Ranjan Mukhopadhyay and late Prof. K.P. Majumder and efforts and services contributed by all those persons,who are related with the school in one manner or other have helped the school in achieving its present situation as one of the Leading Academic Institutions of the region. Today, the school is on the road to success of progress and achievement yet. Sammilani Mahavidyalaya admission process is done online on the basis of the merit list published by the college officials. The Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Fees is also payable through online. The College has highly qualified and experienced faculties to provides qualitative education to its students. The students get many opportunities to take part in seminars and workshops from time to time to develop their interpersonal skills. Guest faculties are also invited to take classes on their relevant subjects.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Highlights:

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya has a well-furnished infrastructure offering various facilities within it. The college provides free WiFi access inside the college campus for both students and staff with the collaboration of Reliance Jio Communication. There is a library with a lot of books, academic materials, a stationery store. The College offers a Bachelor in Arts, semester wise 3 years degree course under Choice Based Credit System(CBCS). 

B.A in Honours course under semester:

The Honours section consists of one CC(Core Course), two GE(Generic Subjects) and one AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Subject) as Communicative English.

B.A General course under semester system:

The General section consists of two CC(Core Course), one GE(Generic Subjects) and one AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Subject) as Communicative English or Bengali or Environmental Studies.

The College offers a Bachelor in Commerce, semester wise 3 years degree course under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The Honours section consists of three CC (Core Course), two GE (Generic Subjects) and one AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Subject) as Communicative English.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Fees:

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya, [SM] Kolkata provides semester wise courses where every semester fees may be changed as per the UGC and other norms. The Sammilani Mahavidyalaya fees for courses are INR 1500- INR 3000. The other fee structure is mentioned below:

• Admission cancellation fee INR 300.
• The duplicate ID card fee INR 100.
• The enrolment fee INR 120.
•  Transfer fee INR 1500.
• Casual admission INR 200.
• University examination fee INR 355.
• For MCBA students one-time laboratory charge is INR 2000 per semester.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Scholarship:

Economically backward students are provided free studentship as per the government rules. The Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Scholarship is provided on merit-based to undergraduate candidates. State and the Central Government provides scholarships and stipends to the Academically best students. On the establishment day, the College provides rewards and prizes from the college donation fund to the students who have performed well in extracurricular activities. Chief Minister of West Bengal launched a program called Kanya-Shree Prokalpa in 2014. Many girl students from this college were benefited.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Infrastructure Facilities:

The Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Infrastructure facilitates students including a library, laboratory, canteen, Wi-Fi, Health service facilities, etc. The detail description of the facilities are as follows:

• There is a library which is of 227.61 Sq.m. According to the accession register, the library has 19605 books. There are two separate reading areas for the students and teachers with a seating capacity of 60. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 11 am to 5 pm, Saturday 11 am to 3:30 pm whether on Sunday and the holiday closing. • The college has well-equipped laboratories for the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Film Studies and Geography.  At present, there are 26 laboratories which are well equipped with necessary instruments and associated facilities.
• There are separate common rooms with indoor game facilities for boys and girls.
• There is a playground within the college where annual sports are organized. The students also play regular football, cricket, and other outdoor games.
• There is a canteen which caters healthy and nutritious food to students and staff members.
• There is an Oriental Bank of Commerce to collect tuition fees and admission fees of the students where students also can open a savings account with zero balance. ATM service is also provided.
• The photocopy center is located on the college premises which is used by the college officials and students.
• The College has a tie-up with the Peerless Hospitex Hospital and Research Center Ltd.located in the neighborhood which supports the college actively in providing health care facilities to the students and staff members at a nominal charge.
• There is a Grievance Redressal Cell in college to deal with ragging, sexual harassment, for this purpose a complaint box has been put up at different points in the college.
• The College has a UGC sponsored career counseling cell which organizes career each year for third-year students.

There is a separate department for placements in the college, which provides necessary workshops and seminars to the final year students of the college to spread the skills necessary for the students. There are some IT companies including Wipro and some real Estate groups are approaching the college to recruit students.

Sammilani Mahavidyalaya Admissions take place in the month of June, right after the declaration of the result in the High School examination of West Bengal Council, ISC examination and CBSE examination.
