St. Wilfred’s Institute of Pharmacy, Panvel [SWIP] was established in the year 2016 by St. Wilfred’s Education Society. The institute is approved by UGC, DTE, and PCI with affiliation from the University of Mumbai. A team of dedicated and well-qualified teachers are involved in imparting quality education to the students. Undergraduate Bachelor’s course in Pharmacy or B. Pharmacy is offered by the institute. On completion of the programme the students can get registered as pharmacists and run their own medical shops and dispensaries. Alternatively, they can pursue further studies at the Master’s level and beyond, and carry out pharmaceutical research. There are a number of other avenues for B.Pharmacy, this mainly includes becoming clinical or hospital Pharmacists, Drug Reviewers, work in ‘formulation control and quality assurance’ under drug production, seek jobs in the government sector, as drug analysts and so on, apart from setting up their own dispensaries or participating in community pharmacy. The added communication and entrepreneurship training given to students equips them with the skills to set up their own retail drug stores too.
Bachelor in Pharmacy or B.Pharm course offered by the institute is for a duration of 4 years. It is a full time course and is conducted on a semester basis. Therefore, the course is broken down into 8 semesters.
About 80% of the total seats are issued through the Centralized Admission Procedure run by Government of Maharashtra, State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai on the basis of MHT-CET score. For lateral entry into the second year of B.Pharmacy course, admissions are done through Centralised Admission Procedure run by Government of Maharashtra, State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai on the basis of Diploma score.
