Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for Symbiosis Institute of Design are discussed below Essential A candidate must have passed 10+2 (any stream; eg. Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent OR 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% aggregate marks obtained in the final examination to be eligible for the above-mentioned program A candidate appearing for the final examination of 10+2 grade or 10+3 Diploma program may also apply provided the results of the examination should have been declared by June of the admission year or prior to being eligible for the above-mentioned program.   Desirable The candidate should possess Creative Aptitude & Skills necessary to pursue Design Education as well as adaptability to the situations, which the profession demands. Candidates with the relevant portfolio would be preferred. SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) is the Common test that any aspirant must clear in order to become a student of any institution under the banner of Symbiosis International University. The test might vary based on the course that you apply for. SIU does not allow any cut-offs for the B.Des course.  

Fees & Scholarships : The fee structure For the B.Des course at SID is as follows. Tuition Fees (Fees per Annum) Particulars Indian Students [All Category] Fees Per Annum  Academic Fees  INR 3,25,000 Security Deposit (Refundable)  INR 15,000 Library Deposit (Refundable)  INR 5,000 Total INR 3,45,000   The details of the scholarships offered by Symbiosis University for the Bachelor of Design course are as follows. Eligibility Merit Scholarship in the UG programme will be awarded to the topper of semester I of the program. In the subsequent semesters, the scholarship would be based on academic excellence, a minimum GPA of 8.75 earned by the same student during the preceding semester. Only those students will be eligible for the award of Merit Scholarship who have cleared the courses prescribed for the respective programme up for the stage of the award i.e. they should not have any backlog. The student who has been awarded merit scholarship by the University shall not be debarred from stipend or any financial assistance from any other source. However, if the student is awarded any stipend or financial assistance from any other source, he/she shall communicate the same through the Institute to the office of Student Affairs, SIU. There will be no income limit of the parents/guardians of the students for the grant of merit scholarship. In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship/freeship by the University, he/she shall be awarded only one scholarship/freeship as per his/her preference. Selection The award of merit scholarship for UG programmes shall be announced every year by the University. If a student declines or cancels his admission, the scholarship amount will not be awarded to any other student but will be refunded by the institute to the University. The scholarship amount will not be paid to a student. It will be transferred by the University directly to the Institute for the adjustment in academic fee. The cheque of the scholarship amount will be given to the student for the last semester of the program. Tie Breaker If two or more than two students have the same GPA/CGPA score, then the weighted average of academic score of 10th and 12th shall be considered for breaking the tie for scholarship for the semester I. Withdrawal If a recipient of merit scholarship is found guilty of gross misconduct his/her case after due warning shall be reported by the institute to the office of student affairs for withdrawal of merit scholarship. The final decision in this regard will be taken by the Advisory Committee of Symbiosis Society Foundation.  Jayatee Deshmukh Scholarship (UG) Eligibility and selection The scholarship will be given to a girl student who scores the highest in the SET examination and is admitted to any under-graduate institute of Symbiosis International University. A scholarship amount of Rs.25, 000/- would be paid to the institute where the student gets admission and the amount would be adjusted against first installment of fee. The student would be awarded only one scholarship/freeship if she is deemed fit for more than one. The preference of the student is considered in such a case. University Sports Scholarship University sports Scholarships are awarded to athletes committed to combining their sport and education. The program represents a unique partnership between sports and education. It aims to reduce the drop-out rate of talented athletes from sports by supporting and developing the talent of today from the sporting success of tomorrow.University Sports Board has successfully launched the University Sports Scholarship. Five sports Scholarships of Rs.24000 /- each is been awarded to the outstanding sportsmen of SIU who has participated at Intervarsity /National/International or state level tournaments.The list of achievements to date by University Sports Scholar is truly impressive. The majority have represented either Symbiosis University at National University Games or National games in their chosen sport, and some have already had considerable success at International level. please note that only one person is eligible for each of the scholarships. Education loans have to be taken by students as private loans, however, on registration, the student is expected to specify the mode of payment of fees, for the purpose of documentation.

Academics & Faculty : classes start from 9:30 AM, although most lectures are wound up by 5:30 in the evening, classes can go on for as long as 7:00 in the evening based on how important the module is.Exams and course projects are conducted after setting a time -table for each semester.Ample time and study leaves are provided for the completion of each project and Exams.The quality of teaching is above average, especially in the fashion design department which is rated as No:3 in India by NDTV. I have had a very good experience at SID, taking into account academics and other campus activities.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : The options for accommodation for the students include PGs Apartments that are available at a reasonable rate dormitories etc- The food at the college mess can be rated as 7/10 .only vegetarian food is served in the on-campus mess. The cost is 65 per plate. The classrooms, labs, libraries and dining halls can easily get an overall of 8/10. The campus wifi gives you 1mb/s data if you're lucky, but it's up all day so you can depend on it for surfing.

Clubs & Associations : Starting with the student council, the student societies at SID are mainly formed for the purpose of Academics or on-campus activities like fests. there might or might not be councils formed for the placement process for each batch. Festivals at the SID are considered to be very important for the budding designer, the fests are a good stage to showcase your skills and talents. The fundamentals is the annual fest of the college. organized by the students of SID the fest is essentially a design showcase, with concerts installations, games and competitions for distractions The laksa is a live sketching event organized for the students of 2nd,3rd, and 4th year at the SID.There are annual open mics and fashion shows organized by students.The fashion show organized by the final year students in the month of June every year is a spectacle that few will forget. other fests include small design showcases and cultural festivals. I had a very good experience at SID, taking into account both academic and other campus activities
