The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata was established in 1999 by the Bar Council of India, in conjunction with the government of West Bengal. NUJS is one of the premier national law schools of India. NUJS has constantly been ranked as one of the top law schools in India.  NUJS has a very rich faculty, with diverse backgrounds, drawn from almost all corners of India. NUJS  has well-trained faculties from top universities in India and abroad. NUJS has also attracted leading academicians, as visiting faculties, from top universities such as the University of Sydney, University of London, National University of Singapore, Freiburg University and others. Students have passed out from NUJS are working in top law firms in India and abroad, some are practising in courts and some have entered the field of legal academics and are teaching in India and abroad.

Eligibility criteria at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata:

UG courses at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata:

  • Candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent in the first attempt.
  • Candidate should have scored a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate for general category and 40% marks in the case of SC / ST category and persons with disability.

Doctor of Laws [LLD]:

  • Candidate should have a Ph.D. Degree in Law of any recognized University.

PG courses at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata:

  • Candidate should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) from any Indian University recognised by UGC or any equivalent degree offered by a foreign University.
  • Candidate should have scored a minimum of 55% or an equivalent cumulative grade point average.
