WBNUJS, commonly referred to as NUJS is one of the best national law schools in India, located in West Bengal. Being an autonomous institution, it follows the five-year law degree model as stipulated by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Established under the WBNUJS Act of 1999, NUJS was recognized under the UGC Act, of 1956, in 2004 and permanently affiliated with the BCI in 2005. It is one of only three National Law Schools, along with GNLU and NLSIU, Bengaluru, with the Chief Justice of India serving as its Chancellor. NUJS offers a range of UG, PG, and diploma law programs.

A total of 35 courses are offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels NLU Kolkata (NUJS) offers a total of 35 courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with eligibility and tuition fees on the table for each course as follows. Admission is offered based on merit in their previous qualifying exams and the scores acquired in entrance exams like CLAT, UGC NET, and WBCHSE based on courses offered.

NUJS (NLU Kolkata): Admission, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

WBNUJS (NLU Kolkata) offers admission to its UG, PG, and doctoral law programs based on national entrance exams like CLAT. The BA LLB course admits students based on their CLAT scores. In India, a person must appear for the All India Bar Exam conducted by the BCI to be allowed to practice law and receive a 'Certificate of Practice.' CLAT 2025 results are already announced, and counseling registrations open up till December 20, 2024. One can access the scorecard on the official website.

NUJS (NLU Kolkata): Cutoff

NLU Kolkata, also known as NUJS, is likely to declare CLAT 2025 cutoffs for 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and LLM (PG) programs shortly. As per the counselling schedule, CNLU will declare five rounds of cutoffs for UG admissions in 24 NLUs and PG admissions in 21 NLUs. CLAT 2025 results and scorecards are available on the official website, and counseling registrations are open till 20 December 2024.

NUJS (NLU Kolkata): Scholarship

NUJS provides an Aditya Birla Scholarship for the best-performing candidates. There is also a merit-cum-means scholarship and many state government-aided scholarships, which are also available to women students. The average annual cost, including food and accommodation, would be around INR 3 lakhs. On-campus employment is not available in the first years. In the 5th year, the student can become a teaching assistant, if eligible.

NLU Kolkata (NUJS) is an institution that has received strong rankings from various ranking bodies under different categories. The university consistently places well and ranks #4 under the 'Law' category, according to NIRF, in 2024. This is the third successive year that NLU Kolkata (NUJS) has made it to the top 5 law schools in the country.

What's new in NUJS placements 2023? WBNUJS Kolkata hasn't announced the placement data for the year 2023. However, according to the NIRF report 2023, 80 students were placed under the BA LLB/BSc LLB stream and 54 LLM students during the placement drive conducted for the year 2022. The median package offered for the BA LLB/BSc LLB batch was INR 16 LPA, whereas that for the LLM batch was INR 10 LPA.
