Veterinary College, Shivamogga started functioning from the academic year 2006-07 with the permission of Government of Karnataka to start new Government Veterinary Colleges at Shimoga and Hassan during 2006-07 as constituent colleges of KVAFSU, Bidar.  The mandate of the college is teaching, research and extension in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. The primary object of this college is to produce qualified and competent Veterinarians who could help in increasing livestock productivity in the state, in particular and in the country, in general. The mission of the college is to strive hard and provide leadership in teaching, research and extension education services related to veterinary and animal sciences. The college will keep in pace with the new frontier of science and contemporary developments which are socially and technically relevant to the society. The college has been setup in an area of 157 acres at Sominakoppa village coming under Urban Development Authority of Shivamoga. In this college, adequate measures are taken to assure quality education, as the college is totally governed by the requirements of Veterinary Council of India and guidelines of the KVAFSU, Bidar. Excellence in Teaching, Research and Extension, as well as in Human Resource Development.

Veterinary College Application Form 2024

Students shall be admitted to the university in accordance with the Regulations issued by the Board of Management.

• Any modification to the Regulations shall be made by the Vice Chancellor with the approval of the Board of Management in accordance with the rules of the Government that are in force and that may be issued from time to time by the Government in this regard.
• The number of students to be admitted will be decided by the Board of Management on the recommendations of the Academic Council.
• The admission notifications for different degree programmes are notified in important newspapers and also in all colleges of the university.

Veterinary College UG Admission Process 2024

To impart professional quality higher education in different branches of Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences. To further the advancement of learning and prosecution of Research in Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences other allied sciences.

Aspirants must have passed 10+2 with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and with a minimum of 50% in aggregate from CBSE/ ICSE/ State Board or equivalent.

Tips for Successful Admission

• The candidates to be eligible for admission to Bachelor degree programmes of the University should possess the following requirements.
• The candidates should have passed and have a minimum of 50 % aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English of the second year PUC of Karnataka Pre-University Board or its equivalent examination.
• For candidates belonging to SC/ST and Cat-I a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English of the second year PUC of Karnataka Pre-University Board or its equivalent examination.
• The candidates should have appeared for common entrance test (CET) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore.
• The candidate should be completing 17 years of age as on 31st December of that academic year.
