Veterinary College Shimoga was established in 2006. The college was founded under the Urban Development Authority of Shimoga in an area of 157 acres in Sominakoppa village. The main aim of this college is to produce trained and skilled veterinarians who can help to increase the productivity of livestock in the province, in particular, and in the country in general.

Veterinary College’s mission is to work hard to provide leadership in veterinary and animal science teaching, study and extension education services. Adequate steps to ensure quality education are taken at this institution, as the college is entirely regulated by the requirements of the Veterinary Council of India and the guidelines of the KVAFSU, Bidar. VC Admission is merit-based.

Veterinary College B.V.Sc Program

The BVSc or Bachelor of Veterinary Science is a medical undergraduate degree. The full form of the BVSc is a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. With the last 6 months being obligatory internship tenure, the length of the course is 51⁄2 years. The Bachelor of Veterinary Science is concerned with the study of medical diagnosis and the treatment of all animal diseases. Considering the number of animals that humans pet, veterinary physicians are very important. All kinds of domestic animals such as dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes, wild animals, birds and reptiles, are treated by veterinary doctors.  Some of the BVSc course job profiles are Veterinary Doctor, Veterinary Research Scientist, Animal Breeders, Veterinary Officers, Veterinary Surgeon.
