Stenography Exam Pattern 2025: Distribution of Marks
ISRO Stenographer has objective-type questions. ISRO JPA exam pattern marking scheme has +1 for correct answers and - 0.25 for every incorrect answer as part of marking.
- 300-word shorthand test at 60 words per minute (Time: 5 minutes).
- The text must be transcribed on the computer (time limit: 30 minutes, plus compensatory time for PWBD candidates).
- Short-hand dictation work, i.e. strokes, etc., must be done in Pittman's short-hand (long hand is not permitted), or the transcript will be rejected.
- Method of calculating errors in the Stenography Skill Test:- Error percentage = (Full Mistakes + Half Mistakes/2) x 100
- The total number of words in the master passage The percentage will be rounded to the nearest two decimal places. For example, 5.009 is handled as 5.001, and 5.001 is treated as 5.00.

The ISRO Fireman Selection Process consists of a Preliminary Medical Test (PMT) followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Detailed Medical Examination (DME), and a Written Exam.

Physical Efficiency Test
The Physical Efficiency Test will be done in two parts to determine whether or not candidates meet the physical standard criteria. Only applicants who passed Stage 1 of the PET will be invited to the detailed medical examination, and those who pass the DME will be invited to Stage 2 of the PET round.

- The skill Test consists of two passages of 20 marks each for precis writing and two passages of 30 marks each for translation from Hindi to English and vice versa.
- The Skill Test is scheduled to last two hours (120 minutes).
