KVPY 2022 exam with INSPIRE has been dissolved by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. According to the official notification released on the official website by DST, there will be no further KVPY Aptitude Tests conducted. However, the candidates who satisfy the eligibility requirements of the DST will be awarded with fellowships.

KVPY 2022 Exam Date
DST announced that there will be no further KVPY aptitude tests with INSPIRE conducted. The candidates will be awarded KVPY fellowships if they meet all the requirements prescribed by the conducting body. Therefore, there will be no KVPY 2022 aptitude test. More details on the same will be released by DST.
KVPY exam 2021 was held on May 22, 2022, and the admit cards for the exam were available on the official website from May 5, 2022. Candidates who wish to seek KVPY 2022 scholarship for pursuing or willing to pursue any basic Science degree had to belong to any one of the streams described below:
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SA
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SA stream are as follows.
- Candidates must be studying in class XI in the Science stream in the academic year 2022.
- They must have secured a minimum of 75% in Mathematics and Science in class X.
- Aspirants must pursue B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat. or Integrated M.Sc./M.S. in the academic session of 2022, after securing a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SX
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SX stream are as follows.
- Candidates must be studying in class XII in the Science stream in the academic year 2022, or must be studying in the 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination Board in the academic year 2022.
- They must have secured a minimum of 75% in Mathematics and Science in class X.
- They must pursue B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat. or Integrated M.Sc./M.S. in 2022, after securing a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SB
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SB stream are as follows.
- Candidates must be studying in the first year of UG program in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics like B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat. or Integrated M.Sc./M.S. in the academic session 2022.
- They must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
- They must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 60% in the first-year final examination before taking up the fellowship (if awarded).
- For SC/ST/PWD applicants, a relaxation of 10% in the percentage of marks scored will be allowed.
- Applicable streams at the undergraduate level are – applied Physics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Botany, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Neurosciences, Physiology, Marine Biology, Human Biology, Genetics, Geology, Geophysics, Materials Science and Zoology.
- Students should note that the fellowship will be discontinued if the above marks/grade is not obtained. The student can receive KVPY fellowship up to the Pre-PhD level or for 5 years, whichever is earlier.
- If a KVPY Fellow opts out of the Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. or Integrated M.Sc./M.S.) stream at any stage, then IISc will forfeit the Fellowship and Contingency Grant forthwith.
- Students or candidates who belong to the Cambridge International Examination Board must be in their second year. They must be willing to carry out the undergraduate program from any subjects belonging to basic science like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
- The candidates or students of the Cambridge International Examination Board must also meet the requirements of securing 75% marks or percentile in their class 10 Mathematics and Science subjects and must also secure a minimum of 60% aggregate in class 12 Science and Mathematics. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD are given 10% relaxation for 65% and 50%, respectively.

KVPY 2021 exam was conducted online as a CBT, i.e., a computer-based test for 180 minutes. The candidates were given four options to every question out of which, one or more answers can be correct. Candidates must read the question carefully to understand whether it has a single answer or multiple answers.

KVPY 2021 Marking Scheme
There are two parts in each stream of KVPY 2021 examination.
- There are two sections for KVPY 2021 SA stream, namely Part 1, which consist of 15 questions in each subject of Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry with 1 mark each. For Part 2, there are 5 questions with 2 marks each.
- For KVPY 2022 SX/SB streams, there are two sections. Part 1 consist of 20 questions of 1 mark for each subject, and Part 2 consist of 10 questions of 2 marks each.
Note: There is negative marking for Part 1 and Part 2 in all streams of KVPY 2021, which is 0.25 marks and 0.5 marks respectively for each incorrect answer. Based on the marks obtained in KVPY 2021 Aptitude test, the students are called for an Interview. The final admission is based on 75% of KVPY 2021 Aptitude test and 25% of Interview.

KVPY 2022 syllabus broadly covers topics from four key subjects which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. IISc does not include any syllabus in the notification of KVPY, but it mentions that stream SA is of class XI level and Stream SX and SB, are of class XII level of Mathematics and Science.
