DST announced that there will be no further KVPY aptitude tests with INSPIRE conducted. The candidates will be awarded KVPY fellowships if they meet all the requirements prescribed by the conducting body. Therefore, there will be no KVPY 2022 aptitude test. More details on the same will be released by DST.
KVPY 2022 eligibility criteria are set by the conducting body for different streams. To encourage youth to pursue Basic Science and take up research, the Government of India, through the Department of Science and Technology, awards scholarships to students studying or willing to study basic science at undergrad level like BSc/SC/B. Math /B.Stat. /Int.MSc/Int. MS for a maximum of 5 years or until the Pre-PhD level. The fellowship is offered to all Indian nationals who are seeking to complete their higher education.
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates willing to apply for KVPY 2022 to seek a scholarship for pursuing or willing to pursue any basic science degree should belong to any one of the following streams:
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SA
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SA stream candidates are as follows.
- Must be studying in class XI in the science stream in the academic year 2022,
- Must have secured a minimum of 75% in mathematics and science in class X.
- Must pursue BSc/SC/B.Math./B.Stat. /Int. MSc/Int. MS after securing a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SX
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SX stream aspirants are as follows.
- Must be studying in class XII in the science stream in the academic year 2022 OR must be studying in the 2nd year of Cambridge International Examination Board in the academic year 2022,
- Must have secured a minimum of 75% in mathematics and science in class X.
- Must pursue BSc/SC/B.Math./B.Stat. /Int. MSc/Int. MS in 2022 after securing a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
KVPY 2022 Eligibility Criteria for Stream SB
The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022 SB stream applicants are as follows.
- Must be studying in the first year of UG program in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics like BSc/SC/B.Math./B.Stat. /Int. MSc/Int. MS in the academic session 2022.
- Must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 60% in Science subjects in class XII.
- Must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 60% in the first-year final examination before taking up the fellowship (if awarded).
For SC/ST/PWD applicants, a relaxation of 10% in the percentage of marks scored will be allowed.
Applicable streams at the undergraduate level are – Applied Physics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Botany, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Neurosciences, Physiology, Marine Biology, Human Biology, Genetics, Geology, Geophysics, Materials Science and Zoology.
Students should note that the fellowship will be discontinued if the above marks/grade is not obtained. The student can receive KVPY fellowship up to the Pre-PhD level or 5 years, whichever is earlier.
IF a KVPY Fellow opts out of the basic science (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) stream at any stage, then IISc will forfeit the Fellowship and Contingency Grant forthwith.
In order for the renewal of KVPY Fellowship, KVPY Fellows must participate and perform satisfactorily in the summer program/Project each year from the second year (B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat /Integrated M.Sc./Integrated MS) onwards in an academic Institution of National or International repute or a DSIR approved research labs (in case of private lab or institutions).
KVPY does not allow its Fellows to simultaneously receive fellowship /scholarship from more than one government or private source. If they receive any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to relinquish it to avail of KVPY Fellowship.
Candidates who hold a valid OCI/PIO card can also take up KVPY Aptitude Test 2022. The students or candidates pursuing an undergraduate course from any of the Distance Education schemes/correspondence courses from any university or institute are not eligible to apply.
