UPSC CSAT eligibility criteria 2023 must be fulfilled by all candidates who wish to appear for the UPSC CSAT 2023 exam (paper 2 of Civil Services Examination) in terms of educational qualification, age limit, number of attempts, nationality, etc mentioned below.
In terms of nationality, candidates applying for the UPSC CSAT exam should be citizens of India to satisfy the eligibility criteria for UPSC CSAT 2023.
Age Limit Criteria
- Candidates applying should not age less than 21 years and not more than 32 years to satisfy the eligibility criteria for UPSC CSAT 2023.
- In the case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST category, the upper age limit is relaxable up to five years.
- In the case of OBC candidates, the upper age limit is relaxable for up to three years.
Educational Qualification
- A candidate must be a graduate from a recognized University or a deemed university to satisfy the eligibility criteria for UPSC CSAT 2023.
- Candidates need to hold a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university of central or state legislature or any university established by an Act of parliament or declared to be deemed to be a University under section-3 of the UGC Act-1956.
- Candidates are also eligible to attend the preliminary exam whose final results are awaited.
- A candidate who has appeared for the final year of bachelor's degree and awaiting the result, along with candidates who intend to appear at such qualifying examinations can also apply for UPSC CSAT 2023, provided that they submit their proof of qualification along with the application form for the Mains exam.
- A candidate who possesses professional and technical qualifications recognized by Government equivalent to the professional and technical degree is also eligible to apply for UPSC CSAT 2023.
- Candidates with technical bachelor’s degrees such as MBBS, B.E are also eligible.
- A candidate who has passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other medical examination but has not completed an internship by the time of submission of the application for the Civil Services (Main) Examination is also eligible to apply for UPSC CSAT 2023.
Number of Attempts
- Candidates can apply a maximum of 6 times for the UPSC CSAT exam.
- The maximum age limit for the unreserved candidate is 32 years
- The candidates belonging to the OBC category can apply a total of nine times.
- This restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates
