The UPSC IAS 2024 form-filling window will close today, i.e., on Mar 6, 2024. Earlier, the last date to apply was Mar 5, 2024, but it has been extended for one day. The UPSC IAS 2024 application process will close on Mar 6, 2024 at 6:00 pm. The UPSC IAS application form 2024 could only be filled out online on the official website of UPSC. Candidates will be required to fill out the online application form within the period announced by the conducting body.

UPSC IAS 2024 Registration
Candidates need to go through UPSC IAS 2024 official notification to make sure that satisfy all the eligibility criteria for the relevant post before applying for the examination. Candidates have to be cautious while filling in the details in the registration form and the application form. However, the conducting body facilitates the candidates to change the exam centres within a certain period.

- Step 1: Candidates need to visit the IAS 2024 official website and click on the link "Apply Online".
- Step 2: Click on the tab "Online Application for the various exams of UPSC". You will be directed to a new page. Click on the tab named "New registration".
- Step 3: If you have forgotten the registration number click on the link forgot registration number to retrieve it. Clicking on the New Registration will take you to a page where you have to fill in your basic details.
- Step 4: Enter your Name, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Gender, Community, etc.
- Step 5: Enter other details as mentioned above in that picture such as Email ID, mobile number, etc.
- Step 6: Click on save and continue after rechecking all the information filled. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria for IAS 2024 can fill in the application form online. - Step 7: Mention the number of attempts already made in the UPSC Civil Service exam
- Step 8: Choose your centre for the UPSC IAS 2024 Mains exam. Select the option you want to take up for the UPSC Mains exam
- Step 9: Select the medium in which you want to write the Mains examination you can choose any of the languages out of the languages mentioned in the eighth schedule of the constitution

The candidates are required to upload the scanned images of the following documents while filling out their UPSC IAS 2024 application forms:
- The candidate's recent Photograph and Signature.
- The candidates should upload images in a fixed format as decided by UPSC. The format is as follows:
- The scanned photo should be clear of any discrepancies and preferably it should have a white background.
- A Blackball pen should be used on white paper for the signature and the signature should be visible in the image. The file should be in JPG format.
- Dimensions for both photo and signature should be 350 pixels (Height) x 350 pixels (width). The size of the scanned files should be between 20 KB and 300 KB.

UPSC IAS result 2024 for Mains is expected to be released today, Dec 6, 2024, on the official website. Candidates will be able to download the PDF from the official portal. UPSC IAS 2024 exam has three stages. The result for each stage is declared on the official website of UPSC. The results will be announced after the successful conduction of the examination.
The candidates need to score more than the cutoff decided by the commission for the IAS 2024 Prelims Exam to be eligible to attend the IAS 2024 Mains examination. The Prelims exam will be qualifying. About the UPSC IAS Exam
UPSC Civil Services or IAS 2024 exam is conducted for the recruitment of Group A & B officers in various departments of the Govt of India. The services into which recruitment is made are IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, etc. The exam is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the country as the Commission receives around 1 million applications from people fighting for about 100 seats.
IAS 2024 exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission which is headquartered at Dholpur House, in New Delhi. The exam consists of three stages: Prelims, Mains, and the Interview. Finally, candidates whose names are on the merit list are called for training at respective service training centres.

UPSC IAS 2024 Eligibility
The eligibility for the IAS 2024 Exam has several parameters associated with it. The detailed IAS 2024 Eligibility criteria are given as follows:
Nationality: A candidate must either be:
- A citizen of India
- A subject of Bhutan
- A subject of Nepal
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement.
- A Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan, and East African Countries of Malawi, Zaire, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement.
Educational Qualification: The candidates must be a graduate in any discipline. The candidates who are in the final year of their degree course are also eligible to apply for IAS 2024.
Age Limit: The candidate must be at least 21 years old and should not have attained 32 years. However, Relaxation is given in this criterion to various categories. The age limit for various categories is given below:

Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for the IAS exam 6 times at most. However, If the candidate belongs to the OBC category, he/she can appear for the exam 9 times. There is no such limit on the number of attempts for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.

UPSC IAS 2024 Admit Card
UPSC IAS 2024 preliminary exam admit card was published on May 8, 2024. The admit card can be downloaded by entering the registration number or roll number. The last date to download the UPSC IAS admit card 2024 was May 28, 2024. The admit card has the candidate's personal details, roll number, and location of the exam centre.
UPSC IAS 2024 admit Card will only be available online and no hard copy will be sent through the post. Other important instructions to the candidates will also be present on the admit card which a candidate must go through. UPSC IAS 2024 Exam Centres
Candidates can choose two or three exam centres from the given list at IAS 2024 Registration time. They should select the exam centres in order of preference. The exam authorities, i.e., in this case, the Union Public Service Commission, will assign them the nearest centre so that it is easy for them to commute to the IAS exam centre. However, candidates should note that the exam authority reserves the complete right over the adding or removing of the exam centre.
In case some centre is removed for some reason, candidates will be assigned another IAS exam centre. The IAS exam centre allocated to a candidate will be present on the admit card of the IAS exam. Once the IAS exam centre has been assigned, it cannot be changed under any circumstance.
Generally, IAS exam centres are situated at the district level. If the exam centre is not in the district of the candidate, then he/she may have to travel to the nearest district for the IAS exam. UPSC IAS 2024 syllabus for Mains includes Essay Writing and Letter/Application writing. The Essays are based on the GS topics that are mentioned in the paper I of the Prelims. Also, two papers will be based on the optional subject chosen by the candidates.

UPSC IAS 2024 Cut Off
UPSC IAS 2021 cutoff was released on Jun 2, 2022, on the official website. The conducting body released the Cutoff for each exam stage and each category separately. For the General Category, 87.54 was the Cutoff for the IAS prelims exam, 43.77 per cent of the total marks. The cutoff for the General Category for the Main written exam was 745. The Candidate has to score marks above the Cutoff to advance to the next stage from the previous step. The commission decides these cutoffs. The Cutoff varies from one category to another.

UPSC IAS 2024 Selection Process
The Selection Process involves three stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview.
UPSC IAS 2024 Prelims Exam
IAS 2024 Prelims has two papers involved and is more like a screening test. In the first paper, the candidate needs to clear the cutoff decided by the commission and the second one is qualifying. The marks obtained in the prelims examination will not have an impact on the final merit list as it is qualifying in nature.
UPSC IAS 2024 Mains Exam
In the IAS 2024 Mains Exam, the candidate has to appear for 7 papers which include essays and letters. Marks obtained by candidates in the main examination will be considered for the final result. Hence candidates need to be well prepared for all the subjects of the main exam. The candidate after the mains exam, needs to clear the cutoff of the written exam to be eligible for the interview stage.
UPSC IAS 2024 Interview
In the UPSC IAS 2024 Interview, the candidate's personality will be assessed for suitability for the job of a civil servant. After the personality test candidates have to undergo a compulsory medical examination to examine the physical and mental status of the shortlisted candidates. Candidates' medical reports will be available on the official website after receiving them from the hospital authority.
UPSC IAS 2024 Merit List
Finally, a merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in all the stages of the UPSC IAS 2024 examination process. The candidates then are allotted services based on their preference and their rank in merit. How to Prepare for UPSC IAS 2024?
Firstly, the candidate is required to get a full understanding of the syllabus and Exam Pattern of IAS 2024. Next, the candidate is required to make a timetable and follow it religiously to complete the entire syllabus before the date of the exam. The candidate then needs to target individual sections. While preparing for the exam candidates can make bullet points of all the important topics and a brief explanation of each concept so that it becomes easy to revise those topics before the exam. For each section, plans and goals should be made and followed. Refer to previous year papers to get a brief idea about the importance of each topic. Use reference books to know more about difficult concepts. Finally, take up mock and sample papers to identify one's weaknesses and time management skills.

FAQs on UPSC IAS
Q: Can the exam centre be changed after submission of IAS application?
A: No, once the application is submitted, the exam centre cannot be changed at later stages. Hence candidates need to be very cautious while filling details in the application form and make sure that everything is relevant before submitting the form.
Q: If I appeared for the IAS prelims exam only, will it be considered as an attempt?
A: Yes, Even if you appear for a single paper out of two papers in the prelims, it will be considered as an attempt. The conducting body specifies the number of attempts allowed for candidates belonging to various categories. Candidates belonging to an unreserved category can have a maximum number of 6 attempts. Candidates belonging to OBC category have a total number of 9 attempts. Physically handicapped candidates belonging to the General Category also have a total number of 9 attempts. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category can make any number attempts in the UPSC IAS Exam.
Q: I am already a Govt. employee, Do I need to obtain NOC from my department in order to appear for IAS exam?
A: The candidates need to submit an undertaking specifying that they have informed their department heads regarding the same. If the commission comes to know that the candidate was not given permission, his/her candidature is liable to get cancelled.
Q: Is there any cutoff for compulsory IAS language papers?
A: The candidate needs to score a minimum of 25% marks in the compulsory papers.

A: The Eligibility Criteria based on Nationality is as follows: A candidate must either be: A citizen of India A subject of Bhutan A subject of Nepal A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement. A Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan and East African Countries of Malawi, Zaire, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement.
