NSTSE Registration Important Dates
Students who have registered for the NSTSE have to keep checking the Unified Council's official website to track the latest updates.
The Unified Council has released important dates for the NSTSE exam for the current academic year, mentioned in the table below.

NSTSE Registration 2023
The National Level Science Talent Search Examination is conducted every year by the Unified Council of India. Students can apply for the NSTSE Olympiad exams through their school or as individual participants under their parent's guidance. Schools that have more than 40 willing participants can apply as an exam center for NSTSE.
Before filling out the NSTSE application online, students should satisfy the following eligibility criteria and the exam's important instructions.
- The student must be studying under an affiliated school with any Indian-recognized education board like CBSE, ICSE, state board, etc.
- Students studying in classes from 1 to 10 are completely eligible for the NSTSE exam.
- For classes 11 and 12, students must be studying PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) as the main subjects in their school.
A few important instructions which a student has to follow are;
- If the student is getting registered by the school, the school's respective teacher-in-charge must manage the registration process.
- In case of an incomplete or a wrongly filled application, the Unified Council will cancel their whole application.
- The registration fee for NSTSE is non-refundable.
- Before submitting the NSTSE application, candidates must check all the information, and the Unified Council would not entertain requests for changes after the deadline.
NSTSE School Registration
Schools have to register under the Unified Council for school registration to become an exam centre for Unified Olympiad exams. Only registered schools can send the NSTSE application to their students.
There are a few requirements that a school has to satisfy to get registered for the NSTSE examination that is given below.
- Schools should be affiliated with any Indian recognized education board like CBSE, ICSE, ISE, or any other state board.
- There must be a minimum of 40 participants from the school.
Schools that satisfy these requirements get a complete detailed brochure by Unified Council with all the NSTSE Olympiad details. After getting registered from the Unified Council, the school has to send a complete list of the participants with a single consolidated demand draft(DD) of all the students' exam fees before the last date for NSTSE registration.
NSTSE Individual Registration
Students can also register as individual participants to appear for the NSTSE exam even if their school is not participating. However, the students have to fill the NSTSE individual registration form from the Unified Council official website only under their parents' guidance. Individual students have to take the exam at their home with their own devices like PC, laptop, or tablet.
Below are the steps that a candidate can follow to do individual registration themselves or with their parent or guardian's help.
- Visit the official website of the Unified Council.
- On the top of the page, the candidate will see 'Register here' for NSTSE, UIMO, UCO, and UIEO. After selecting that, they will be directed to a new page.
- Now, the candidate has to select the 'click here to register option given in a red box, which will direct them to the Unified Council's registration portal.
- Students should make sure to fill in all the details correctly as they won't be able to change them later.
Note: The details given in the registration form will be shown in their certificate of participation, awards, and medals.
NSTSE Registration Fees
Every participant of the NSTSE Olympiad has to pay a registration amount to the Unified Council to appear for the NSTSE examination. NSTSE registration fee includes a student performance report and study material for NSTSE preparation.
Students filling the application through the school have to pay INR 150 (examination fee) + INR 15(student performance report) to register for the NSTSE exam. Students who are getting registered online through the Unified Council official website will have three options for payment.

NSTSE Admit Card
The Unified Council will release the admit card for NSTSE on its official website after the registration process. Students can download their NSTSE admit cards from the Unified Council official website once it comes to existence. Applicants who get registered through school usually get their admit cards from school coordinators, but they can also download them from the website. On the other hand, individual participants can download their admit cards only from the Unified Council official website.
NSTSE Online Examination Process
Every year the unified council conducts its annual Olympiad in schools/test centres, under the supervision of teachers/invigilators. But from 2020, due to the pandemic, they have decided to conduct their Olympiad online.
Some instructions for giving NSTSE online are given below.
- It is strongly recommended that a student takes the test using a desktop, laptop, or tablet.
- Internet connection should have a minimum speed of 512 Kb/S - 1Mb/S
- The student has to disable the antivirus of their device.
- The test will not work on the Safari browser.
- If the student is using a mobile phone, they must have a strong internet connection and keep their exam window on for the whole time of the examination.
Students have to keep their camera and mic on for the whole time during the NSTSE examination.
The process to start the examination is given below.
- Open the exam link received during registration.
- Turn on the mic and camera on the PC or laptop.
- After logging in, a student will be able to see the test assigned.
- The student has to check their image using a webcam or front camera of their desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile and upload it.
- The student has to hold their ID card with a photo in front of the camera. The ID card can be of any school, an Aadhaar card, or any other similar authentic document having participants photograph on it. Then students have to click the photo and upload it.
- The program will approve the registered student. No ID card picture will be captured here.
- Now, students will be directed towards the waiting lounge. They must read all the information carefully.
- Students can start giving exams as soon as the box turns green from grey.
