Al Croma's Review on Lovely Professional University- LPU Jalandhar

The placements were nice earlier, now also it is very nice but not for computer science because there are too much competition and too little opportunities. Companies like Cognizant, Verizon, Honda, Tech Mahindra come and visit LPU. The average package is about 3.5-4.5 lakhs per annum. About 70%-85% students get placed every year.

There are about 8 boys and 5-6 girls hostels. The hostels are very bad when you compare it to the price that you pay. The hostel fee is ranging from a 3000-70000 for hostels and 90000-200000 for apartments. There is many PGs available outside they are low cost and much better than LPU hostels, but the thing is that there is no safety outside. The food in college is totally vegetarian, if you want to eat non-vegetarian you have to go out of the campus. The mess food of hostel is very bad. There are food stalls outside from where you can eat if you want. The mess cost is 30000. The classrooms, libraries and labs are nice and well equipped. Wi-Fi is available but assurance about speed cannot be given. There are total 53 major blocks in LPU spread out in an area of 600 acres. Large grounds are available for sports activities. All in all, it is a nice experience.

The eligibility criteria for the course was taken as class 12 marks and LPUNEST conducted by LPU every year. The admission process is very simple either you can do it by an online method or there is offline method in which you meet up with the counsellor. LPU also provide scholarships according to your marks in LPUNEST or class 12th exam. The typical cut off of my course is 60% in 12th.

Class timing is 1 hour, and the college hours can be from 8-6 but varies according to different sections like it could be 12-4, 8-2, 10-5 etc. The projects are for some subjects and not for others, they may be reports, live project, code project. Exams are many in LPU. There are CA (Class Assessment), midterms and end terms. CA are always subjective. Midterms are objectives and end terms are subjective + objective. The quality of teaching is very good by some teachers whereas there are teachers who are very inexperienced and are bad at teaching. The method of teaching is through notes, presentations and demonstrations. The overall experience in the college is not so bad, it is a very nice college if you want to open up and experience the things which you always wanted to try.

My course fee is Rs 99500 as I am in Hons. but for normal B.Tech the course fee is 89500, which is very less when compared with the other private institutions. There are many scholarships available in LPU ranging from Rs 30000 - Rs 50000 per semester. About 90% students get the scholarships. If you are from a not well to do family, the loan is always the option. Loan availing is easy in some places as well as difficult in others. You can get loans from many of the major banks like SBI, PNB, Axis etc.

There are many clubs and classes available for students. The main festival in LPU is YouthVibe, One India, One World and Spectra. There are several other events always going on in this place. The college life is nice but it could have been better as the communication between one another is very less.
