The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides AICTE scholarships for PG students. The scholarship aims to develop the quality of postgraduate technical education provided in India. The selected scholars will receive a monthly stipend through the AICTE PG scholarship program. However, they should pursue PG courses in an AICTE-approved college/university. The AICTE PG scholarship's last date was January 17, 2023.
Full-time students who have enrolled in one of the following AICTE approved courses based on their GATE/GPAT course are eligible to apply:
- Master of Engineering [ME]
- Master of Technology [M.Tech]
- Master of Architecture [M.Arch]
- Master of Pharmacy [M.Pharm]

AICTE PG Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The AICTE PG scholarship is granted to students every month. However, only the candidates who have enrolled in a PG course approved by the AICTE with a valid GPAT/GATE score can apply for the AICTE PG scholarship. If the students qualify in the GATE/GPAT exam after the admission date, they cannot apply for the scholarship. The international students, sponsored candidates, and those who have enrolled in the PG programme through the management quota cannot apply for the scholarship. The eligibility criteria of AICTE India PG scholarship are as follows:
- Should have qualified with a valid GATE/GPAT score.
- Should be pursuing a postgraduate degree in one of the courses approved by the AICTE.
- Should not be receiving financial aid from any sources during the duration of the course.
- The selected candidates should undertake eight to ten hours of work every week. It should be related to teaching and research activities assigned to them by the institution.
- Students who have already availed the benefits of AICTE or any other centrally funded institutions (IIT, NIT, IIIT, etc.) cannot apply for the AICTE PG scholarship.
- The candidates should submit an undertaking that they will not discontinue the courses. If a candidate leaves the programme midway, then he/she should pay back the total PG scholarship fund.
- The management has the authority to discontinue the AICTE PG scholarship in case of any misconduct.
- Candidates pursuing part-time courses cannot apply for the scholarship.
- The candidate's name and the name given in the bank should match.
- The candidates cannot have a joint account.
- They should have a general saving bank account.
- The OBC creamy layer candidates, qualified under the OBC category, cannot apply for the scholarship.
- Candidates who have qualified under SC/ST, OBC (NCL), or physically disabled and do not have certificates cannot apply for the scholarship.
- The eligible leaves for the candidates are as follows:
- 15 days of casual leaves in a year
- 30 days of medical leaves in an academic year
- Maternity leaves - as per the government's instructions
- The candidates are not allowed to make belated claims after one year of completing the programme.
Note: The scholarship is valid for 24 months or for the course duration (i.e. from the date the commencement until the date of completion of classes) whichever is lower without any extensions.
AICTE PG Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship amount is granted to the selected candidates every month based on their academic performance and adherence to the AICTE PG scholarship rules and regulations. The AICTE PG scholarship funds are subject to change as per the Department of Higher Resource Development and the Executive Committee of the Council. Candidates pursuing architecture, engineering and technology courses will benefit from the AICTE GATE PG scholarship and those seeking pharmacy will benefit from the AICTE GPAT PG scholarship. Selected candidates will receive the AICTE PG scholarship amount of INR 12,400 as a monthly stipend.
How to Apply for AICTE PG Scholarship?
The candidates should submit the application forms well in advance so that their institutions can verify it within the stipulated timelines. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Interested candidates should submit the online application, and the institutions will verify their applications. The candidates can apply for the scholarships by following these steps:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official AICTE PG scholarship portal.
Step 2 - They should click on the 'PG Scholarship (GATE/GPAT) section.
Step 3 - The system will redirect the candidates to the AICTE PG scholarship scheme page.
Step 4 - They can now click on the 'apply for PG scholarship (GATE/GPAT)' option.
Step 5 - The candidate should click on the tab 'click here to proceed to the GATE/GAP scholarship student id verification tab' at the bottom of the page.
Step 6 - The candidates should complete the AICTE scholarship login by providing their student id and institute permanent id. They should enter these details and click on 'validate'.
Step 7 - Now, they should click on 'apply now' and validate their student id by filling in the details.
Step 8 - The candidates should fill the application form with necessary information.
Step 9 - Next, they should upload the necessary documents before submitting the form.
Step 10 - The candidates should click on the 'submit application' button to complete the application process.
Note: The candidates can obtain the student id and institute permanent id from their college/university. For new institutes or deemed universities, the current application number will be the permanent institute id.
AICTE PG Scholarship Important Documents
The candidates should keep the documents ready while applying for the scholarship. They should ensure that the information is accurate and factual. The applicants should upload the documents in the PDF format. The essential documents to submit are as follows:
- A scanned copy of GATE/GPAT scorecard
- A scanned copy of the bank passbook
- Aadhaar card
- Caste certificate
- Copy of the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate for OBC students. It should not be more than a year.
AICTE PG Scholarship Selection Process
There are several processes involved in selecting the candidates for the AICTE PG scholarship. They are chosen based on their GATE/GPAT scores. The steps involved in the selection process are as follows:
- The candidates are selected based on valid GATE/GPAT scores.
- The institutions will shortlist the applicants based on their test scores and verification of documents.
Note: The institutes will make the final decision and maintain a record for all the applicants.
- After verification, the institute will forward the selection application to the PFMS portal to generate the beneficiary code.
- After the PFMS portal generates beneficiary code, the institutions will forward the attendance record of the students.
Note: The candidates will receive scholarship amounts only for the months the institute forwards the attendance.
- The council will transfer the AICTE PG scholarship disbursement to the beneficiaries' bank account.
