The Prerana scholarship portal is an initiative of the Government of Odisha to provide financial assistance to economically weak students of the state to help with their post-matriculation studies. It is implemented by the SC & ST development, minority & OBC welfare departments under the Government of Odisha. Therefore, students belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC/ minority categories can apply online for the Prerana scholarship. 

The department that prepares the Prerana scholarship sanction list works transparently to avoid disputes or issues related to the scholarship. The students and their educational institutions are informed of updates through regular email and SMS alerts. The final submission date for the Prerana scholarship still needs to be updated. However, the expected date for 2023 will be declared soon.

The main aim of the Prerana scholarship portal is to ease the scholarship application process and ensure timely scholarship transfer to the students' bank account. Prerana Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should ensure they meet all the requirements before applying for the Prerana scholarship. They should be pursuing one of the eligible courses at a government recognised institution. Post-Matric Prerana Scholarship
  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of Odisha state.
  • The candidates should belong to the SC, ST, EBC, OBC/SEBC categories.
  • They should have cleared the class X board exams with at least 50% marks.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 2,50,000.
  • The candidates should be studying in a government recognized/ affiliated educational institution.
  • The EBC category students under the general merit are eligible to apply for the post-matric Prerana scholarship scheme.

Prerana Scholarship Eligible Courses

The candidates should be pursuing one of the eligible courses to apply for the Prerana scholarship Odisha. Candidates from class XI and above can apply for the program. However, the providers have divided the post-matric Prerana scholarship into four groups. Tabulated below are the details of the eligible courses under each group:

  1. 3-year Graduation courses

  1. +2, ITI, 3-year Diploma courses, and 2-year Vocational courses

Prerana Scholarship Benefits

The State government of Odisha offers the Prerana scholarship amount to post-matric students. However, the amount will vary for the hostellers and day scholars. In addition, the government will cover the scholars' tuition fees, admission fees, and other fees. Tabulated below are the details of the Prerana scholarship amount and other rewards for the selected students:

    • The government will cover 100% of the candidate's tuition/ course fee.
    • In addition, they will cover the students' college admission fees.
    • The selected students will receive the library and sports fee benefits.
    • The Prerana scholarship amount for SC and ST are as follows:
      • Day-Scholars - INR 550
      • Hostellers - INR 1,200.
    • Similarly, the Prerana scholarship amount for OBC/ SEBC and the EBC categories are as follows:
      • Day-Scholars - INR 350
      • Hostellers - INR 750

How to Apply for Prerana Scholarship?

The application process for the scholarship is online. Interested candidates should visit the official PRERANA (Post-Matric Scholarship Registration Release and Network Automation) portal for the application form. In addition, the state government will release the Prerana scholarship list 2023 on the official portal. The step by step application process for the Prerana scholarship Odisha is given below:

  1. The applicant should visit the Prerana online portal.
  2. They should complete the registration by providing a valid email ID and password.
  3. After registration, the students will obtain the Prerana scholarship student login credentials.
  4. Next, they should go to the ‘Registered Student’s Login’ and click on the Students Corner.
  5. The applicant should save the Prerana scholarship login details and then proceed to fill the application form.
  6. Next, the students should fill in all the personal, educational, and other bank-related details.
  7. The applicant should upload all the supporting documents and passport size photographs.
  8. The candidate should verify all the details and then ‘Apply for the scholarship’.
  9. A printout of the submitted form and the supporting documents has to be submitted to the college/ educational institution at the earliest.

How to Apply Prerana Scholarship Renewal?

The candidates can obtain the submit the Prerana scholarship renewal form on the official portal. After providing the Prerana scholarship login credentials, the candidates should fill in the necessary details in the renewal form and submit it online. The step-wise procedure for the submit the Prerana scholarship renewal form are as follows:

  1. The first step is to log in to the Prerana scholarship portal.
  2. They should provide the Prerana scholarship login credentials.
  3. Any changes to the application form can be done at this stage.
  4. If required, the candidates can re-upload the supporting documents again.
  5. The students should go to the ‘Prerana Renew Application Portal’ and click on ‘Renew Application’.
  6. Fresh details about the course and application status have to be filled in.
  7. Next, the applicant should click on ‘Renew Application Details’.
  8. To complete the online renewal process successfully, the candidate should ‘Lock’ the application.
  9. A printout of the submitted renewal form and supporting documents has to be submitted to the college/ educational institution at the earliest.

Prerana Scholarship Documents Required

The applicants should upload scanned copies of the documents to complete the online application for the Prerana scholarship. After submitting them online, the candidates should print the hard copies of the documents and application form.
