SSP scholarship is a state-funded program applicable to the domiciles of Karnataka from class I to those pursuing a post-doctoral degree. Several subsidiary departments under the state government provide different SSP scholarship schemes to students from various economic backgrounds studying at pre-matric and post-matric levels. The last date to apply for post-matric scholarship schemes for all courses (except PUC, ITI, and Diploma in Polytechnic) was July 15, 2023.

What is SSP?
The SSP (State Scholarship Portal) is a web-based application where students from the SC/ST, OBC, minority and other categories can apply to the state-funded SSP scholarship. The government of Karnataka and the Centre for e-governance sanctions applications for pre-matric and post-matric SSP scholarships through the official SSP portal. The state government is committed to supporting and offering monetary benefits to aspiring students pursuing higher studies through the SSP scholarship schemes. Therefore, the applicants can effortlessly apply to their desired scheme and track the applications in real time through the SSP scholarship portal.
SSP Scholarship Application Last Date
The state government of Karnataka has released new dates for the SSP scholarship. Therefore, interested candidates can submit their applications online within the deadline. Tabulated below are the updated SSP scholarship last dates for different schemes announced by the state government.

SSP Scholarship List
The students studying class I to class X can apply to the SSP pre matric scholarship, and those pursuing from class XI to post-doctoral level can apply to the SSP scholarship post matric scheme on the portal. The subsidiary departments offer scholarship programmes to uplift the lives of underprivileged children. Listed below are the list of the schemes offered by different departments available on the SSP scholarship portal 2023:

Eligibility Criteria for SSP Post Matric Scholarship
The SC and ST students applying for the SSP post matric scholarships should fulfil the following criteria:
- The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
- They should have secured at least 50% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the previous qualifying exam.
- Their family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum.
Rewards for SSP Post Matric Scholarship
The central government will cover 50%, and the state government will cover 50% of the fee amount. Therefore, they will reimburse 100% of the students' fees.
Fee Reimbursement for SC/ST Students
The technical and medical departments in Karnataka provide the fee reimbursement for SC/ST students pursuing medical and technical courses. In addition, the technical education department also provides defence scholarships for children of defence personnel.
Eligibility Criteria for SC/ST Fee Reimbursement
The requirements for the fee reimbursement scheme for students pursuing technical and medical courses are as follows:
- The candidates should belong to the SC/ST category.
- Their family income should be between INR 2,50,000 and INR 10,00,000 per annum.
- Students pursuing a medical or engineering degree can apply to the scheme.
For Defence Scholarship
- SC/ST students whose parents work in the Army, Airforce or Navy can apply to the fee reimbursement scheme for technical courses.
- The parent should be a serving officer, Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), Junior Commission Officer (JCO) or working in a below rank.
Rewards for SC/ST Fee Reimbursement
The selected SC/ST students will receive fee reimbursement from the state government.
Backward Classes Welfare Department
The department of backward classes welfare provides the pre-matric, post-matric and Vidyasiri SSP scholarship schemes to students belonging to the backward classes. The government will offer the scholarship amount every month for ten months. Therefore, candidates domiciled in Karnataka and belonging to the backward classes enlisted by the government can avail themselves of these SSP scholarship benefits.
Eligibility Criteria for SSP Post Matric Scholarship
The eligibility criteria for the SSP post matric scholarship for backward classes are as follows:
- The candidates should be from the backward classes category as listed by the government.
- They should be pursuing class XI or above.
- The students from category-1 should have secured at least 50% marks. However, the category 2A, 3A and 3B students should have secured a minimum of 60% in the previous qualifying exam.
- Their family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum from all sources.
Rewards for Post-Matric SSP Scholarship
The government will offer an SSP scholarship amount based on the groups. Listed below are the post-matric rewards for various groups:
- Group A courses - INR 3,500 per annum
- Group B courses - INR 3,350 per annum
- Group C courses - INR 2,100 per annum
- Group D courses - INR 1,600 per annum
Fee Reimbursement for Backward Classes
The backward classes welfare department provides a fee reimbursement scheme to students from the backward classes (as specified by the government). The government will cover the education fees of the selected candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
The requirements of the fee reimbursement for backward classes are as follows:
- Candidates should be pursuing post-matric studies in a recognised government, government-aided, unaided, or aided institution affiliated to Karnataka universities.
- The family income of students from CAT-1 should be less than INR 2,50,000. However, those from CAT-2A, 3A, 3B and other OBC categories should not exceed INR 1,00,000.
- CAT-1 students should have obtained a minimum of 40% and 50% marks to apply for fresh and renewal applications, respectively.
- Similarly, CAT-2A, 3A and 3B students should have secured 50% and 60% marks for fresh and renewals applications, respectively.
- This SSP scholarship scheme is limited to only two male students from the same family. However, there is no limit for female students from the same family.
- Candidates residing in government hostels or residential colleges cannot apply for the fee reimbursement scheme.
Rewards
The central and state government will refund 100% of the student's fee amount.
Vidyasiri Scholarship
The backward welfare department also provides the Vidyasiri scholarship to students studying at the post-matric level. However, they should belong to the backward classes as listed by the government of India. The state offers a monthly stipend and other benefits to deserving students.
Eligibility Criteria
The requirements for the vidyasiri SSP scholarship are as follows:
- The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
- They should belong to the backward classes.
- They should be pursuing a post-matric course.
- The candidates should have obtained admission to departmental or government-funded hostels.
- The family income of the BC students from CAT-1 should not be over INR 2,50,000.
- However, the CAT-2A, 3A, 3B and students from the other backward classes' income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.
- The students should be residing in rural areas five or more kilometres from the college, or the students should be from another city or town.
- The students should have at least 75% attendance in the current academic year.
Rewards
The state government supports the students staying at hostels and pursuing their education. The details of the hostels are as follows:
For Post-Matric Hostels
- The government will help the students get admission to a hostel. In addition, they will provide food services of INR 1,600 per month for ten months a year.
- They will also offer free accomodation to the students.
For Private Post-Matric Hostels
Under this scheme, eligible students can get admission to a private (post-matric) hostel for backward classes. Additionally, the government will disburse INR 1,100 to each student for meal charges.
Minorities Welfare Department
The state government provides the post-matric and merit-cum-means scholarship schemes for minorities domiciled in Karnataka. Interested candidates can apply by April 2023, to obtain the SSP scholarship benefits from the minorities welfare department. The government will refund the students' course and hostel fees.
Eligibility Criteria for Post-Matric Scholarship
The requirements for the post-matric scholarship for minorities are as follows:
- The candidates should be domiciles of Karnataka.
- They should belong to minority communities such as Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, or Parsi.
- Students pursuing Class XI, XII, diploma, bachelor's, master's, technical, vocational, MPhil or PhD degrees at recognised institutions can apply for this SSP scholarship.
- They should have secured at least 50% marks in the previous qualifying exam.
- Their family income should not be more than INR 2,00,000 per annum.
Rewards for Post-Matric Scholarship
The central and state government will reimburse the tuition and hostel fees of the minority students.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
The minorities welfare department in Karnataka also provides the merit-cum-means scheme to deserving candidates. The government will select the students based on merit and economic background.
Eligibility Criteria for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
The eligibility criteria for the merit-cum-means scholarship for minorities are as follows:
- The candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in the previous exam.
- They should not have any backlogs.
- The family income should be less than INR 2,50,000 per annum.
Rewards for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
The selected candidates under the merit-cum-means scholarship will receive the following benefits:
- The Indian government and the Karnataka government will refund 100% of the fee amount.
- In addition, the state government will provide a study kit to students pursuing the first year of medical and technical courses.
- The state government will directly disburse INR 10,000 to the student's bank account through the DBT system.
Note: The minority students must apply for the post-matric or merit-cum-means scholarship on the NSP portal before applying for the scholarship on the SSP portal as per the latest update.
Karnataka State Brahmin Welfare Department
The Karnataka state Brahmin development board offers financial aid to deserving students belonging to the Brahmin community. Eligible candidates who have cleared class X (or above) can apply for the post-matric SSP scholarship under the Saandeepani shishya vethana scheme. The government will offer up to INR 1,200 to the selected students.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates applying for the post-matric scholarship for Karnataka state Brahmin scheme should fulfil the following criteria:
- The candidates should be bonafide residents of Karnataka.
- This SSP scholarship is exclusively available for Brahmins.
- The candidate's family income should not be more than INR 8,00,000 per annum.
- They should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the previous exam.
Rewards
The selected Brahmin students will receive the following SSP scholarship amount from the state government:
- The day scholars will receive INR 550 per month. However, the hostellers will receive INR 1,200 per month for maintenance allowance.
SSP Pre Matric Scholarship
The state government offers SSP pre matric scholarships to Karnataka domiciles from classes I to X. The students can apply for the pre-matric scholarship online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or State Scholarship Portal, Karnataka (SSP). Before applying for the scholarship, they should obtain their SATS ID, aadhaar number, caste and income certificates. The pre-matric SSP scholarship is available to the students belonging to the SC/ST and backward classes categories.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidates should belong to minority communities.
- Students should be pursuing class I to class X.
- The candidates should have secured 50% marks in the previous qualifying exams, except class I students.
- The family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.
- The government also offers SSP pre matric scholarships to the children of the unclean occupation employees.
Rewards
The school students will receive financial aid from the government towards their education.
How to Register for SSP Scholarship?
The candidates will receive a login ID and password after completing the registration process. The SSP Karnataka scholarship registration steps are as follows:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official SSP scholarship portal.
Step 2 - They should click on the 'create an account button.
Step 3 - The candidates studying in classes from I to X can click on the pre-matric option, and those from class XI and above can click on the post-matric option.
Step 4 - They should enter their SATS ID and click on the 'get data' button.
Step 5 - Once the candidates click on 'get data', the system will fetch the following SSP scholarship details:
- Candidate's name
- Their father's name
- Mother's name
- Date of birth
- Current class
- Their school name
Step 6 - After checking the SSP scholarship details, the candidates can click on 'save & proceed'.
Step 7 - They can now view a pop up containing the candidate's SATS details.
Step 8 - The candidates should click on 'yes' if the details are correct, or they should click on 'no' if any of the details are incorrect.
Note: If the candidates' provide incorrect SATS details and click on yes, the authorities will reject their SSP scholarship application.
Step 9 - After clicking on 'yes', the candidates should provide their valid mobile number and click the submit button.
Step 10 - Next, they should enter the OTP sent to their mobile number and click the submit button.
Note: The candidates can change their mobile number by clicking on the 'reset' button.
Step 11 - Next, they should create a password and click on 'submit'. They should keep the following points in mind while creating a password:
- The password should consist of 8 characters, and it should include a number.
- The password should not contain any blank spaces.
Step 12 - After clicking on 'submit', the system will activate the candidates' SSP scholarship account. The SATS ID will be the applicants' user ID.
Note: The SSP portal will send the user ID and password to the candidate's mobile number.
How to Complete SSP Scholarship Login?
The candidates should log into their SSP scholarship account to apply for the scholarship of their choice. They can log in using their login ID/SATS ID and the password sent to their phone. The candidates should keep their user ID and passwords safe and confidential. However, if they lose it, the applicants can retrieve the login credentials from the SSP portal. Given below are the steps to log in to the SSP portal:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official SSP portal.
Step 2 - They should click on the 'student login' section on the SSP scholarship portal's homepage.
Step 3 - The candidates should enter the SSP login scholarship credentials, i.e. the user ID and password.
Step 4 - They should click on the 'login' button.
Step 5 - After completing the SSP scholarship login, the applicants can view the student account homepage with their details.
How to Apply for SSP Scholarship?
After registration, the candidates can apply for the scholarship by logging into their account using their user ID and password. To know how to fill the SSP scholarship form, the candidates can follow these steps:
Step 1 - The candidates should log in to the account using the login ID and password on the SSP portal.
Step 2 - They should click on apply for SSP pre-matric scholarship or SSP post-matric scholarship on the student account homepage.
Step 3 - The candidates should provide their study details like their university and year of study.
Step 4 - They should click on 'save and proceed'.
Step 5 - The candidates should provide their name, gender, aadhaar number, mobile number and email ID.
Step 6 - They should click on 'save and proceed'.
Step 7 - The candidates should provide their parents'/guardians aadhaar details and click on 'save'.
Step 8 - They should provide their course details and click on 'save and proceed'.
Step 9 - The acknowledgement page will display on the screen.
Step 10 - The applicants should click on the 'e-sign' button if they do not have an aadhaar card.
Note: They should download the official website's aadhaar consent form if their parent's aadhaar phone number is not active.
Step 11 - They should submit the details to their respective institutions with a copy of the acknowledgement.
E-Attest SSP Scholarship Documents
The candidates should get their documents attested using the e-attestation feature, available on the SSP scholarship portal. Although the e-attestation process is online, the applicants should meet the e-attestation officer with their original documents and an aadhaar consent form. Given below are the stepwise instructions to e-attest documents for the SSP scholarship:
Step 1: The candidates should visit the e-attestation portal.
Step 2: They should enter their aadhaar ID, name (as mentioned on the aadhaar card), captcha and tick the box after agreeing to the terms. After filling in the details, the candidates should click on the verify button.
Step 3: The system will direct them to the student profile page, providing their academic details.
Step 4: The applicants should select the document type and upload the documents in the student upload section.
Step 5: Now, the candidates can view the documents under the pending documents page.
Step 6: After uploading the valid documents, the candidates should click on the aadhaar consent form, download it and duly fill the form.
Step 7: The candidates should carry the original documents and aadhaar consent form to the e-attestation officer to get them attested.
Step 8: The students can view the documents in the approved documents section after the attestation officer verifies and approves the required documents for SSP scholarship.
Step 9: The candidates should make a note of the e-attestation ID available next to the document.

Note: Karnataka domiciles studying in another state cannot e-attest their documents online. However, they should carry the documents and get them attested as per the norms of the state they're residing in.
SSP Scholarship Renewal
The candidates can renew the SSP scholarship by providing their login ID and password. If they have forgotten their password, the students can easily retrieve it. Given below are stepwise processes to renew SSP scholarship:
Step 1 - The candidate should visit the official SSP scholarship Karnataka portal.
Step 2 - They should click on 'student login' and enter their login details.
Step 3 - They should click on 'renewal form' to modify their previous SSP application details.
Step 4 - Lastly, they can click on 'submit' to complete the SSP renewal process.
SSP Scholarship Status
The candidates can track their SSP scholarship application status by providing a few details. The steps to check the SSP scholarship status are as follows:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official SSP portal scholarship website.
Step 2 - They should click on the 'track student scholarship status' button on the home page.
Step 3 - The candidates should enter their SATS ID, select the financial year and click on the search button.
Step 4 - Now, they can view the SSP scholarship application status.
SSP Scholarship Sanction List 2023
The applicants can check the list of scholars who have received the SSP scholarship amount on the portal. They can follow these below steps to check the SSP scholarship sanction list 2023:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official SSP Karnataka portal.
Step 2 - They should click on the 'scholarship for students of the list is paid' button.
Step 3 - The candidates should choose the financial year, department, district and taluk details from the dropdown menu.
Step 4 - They should click on the 'search option' button.
Step 5 - The candidates can view the list of scholars selected for the SSP scholarship and their amount.

- The candidates are selected based on their family income and financial condition.
- If two candidates applying for the scholarship have the same family income, the committee will consider the older child in the family for the SSP scholarship.
