Teach for India Fellowship invites college students, professionals, and entrepreneurs with leadership qualities to teach underprivileged children. The Teach for India Fellowship program is for two years. Teach for India Fellowship Eligibility Criteria
The candidates should ensure that they meet all the requirements before applying to the Teach for India fellowship 2023. The TFI program prefers candidates who have strong leadership qualities and problem-solving skills. The Teach for India Fellowship eligibility criteria are as follows:
- The candidates should be Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India.
- They should have at least an undergraduate degree.
- Candidates who are studying or working as professionals and entrepreneurs are eligible to apply.
- The candidates should be applying to the Teach for India fellowship for the first time in 2023.
- The candidates should be passionate and committed to the movement.
- They should possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and resolving skills. They must also demonstrate interpersonal skills by interacting with the stakeholders.
- The candidates should have an excellent academic record.
- They must be proficient in the English language as the selected fellows will teach in english medium schools.
Teach for India Fellowship Benefits
The Teach for India fellowship provides the selected fellows with five-week residential training. The fellowship program will train candidates in various classroom practices and leadership development. Each fellow will have a program manager who will mentor and guide them to be efficient teachers. The benefits of Teach for India fellowship are as follows:
- Candidates will receive the Teach for India fellowship amount, i.e. INR 20,142 per month as their salary.
- Those who are relocating will receive an amount between INR 5,300 to INR 10,000 as HRA.
- Teach for India Fellowship will grant an allowance for school supplies.
- The selected fellows will get an opportunity to teach in one of the following cities:
- Ahmedabad
- Bengaluru
- Chennai
- Delhi
- Hyderabad
- Mumbai
- Pune
How to Apply for Teach for India Fellowship?
The candidates should ensure that they meet all the eligibility criteria before applying for the fellowship. The Teach for India fellowship application form involves writing essays and uploading mandatory documents. The candidates should also attend an online test which will be active for 72 hours after submitting the application form. They can apply for Teach for India fellowship through the portal by following these steps:
Step 1 - The candidates should visit the official Teach for India Fellowship website.
Step 2 - They should click on 'join fellowship' at the bottom of the page.
Step 3 - They can start the application process by clicking on 'apply'.
Step 4 - The candidates should sign up by either linking their Google account or providing their email id and creating a password.
Note: The candidates can choose to sign up using the OTP instead of creating a password.
Step 5 - The candidates should ensure they meet all the eligibility criteria and click on 'proceed to registration'.
Note: If already registered, the candidates can directly log in to their profile using the Teach for India fellowship login credentials.
Step 6 - They should fill in the registration form and click on 'proceed' at the end of the page.
Step 7 - After completing the registration, the students should read and agree to the conditions.
Step 8 - They should now click on 'proceed to application'.
Step 9 - The candidates can start filling in the application form.
Step 10 - After providing all the required details, they can submit the application form.
Teach for India Fellowship Selection Process
The Teach for India fellowship selects its candidates after a rigorous process. The selection committee primarily chooses fellows based on their academic performance, leadership qualities, organisational skills, core competencies, and a strong desire for success. The selection procedure includes three stages. The Teach for India fellowship has a selectivity rate ranging from 6% to 8.5%. The Teach for India fellowship selection process consist of three stages, and they are:
Stage I - Application Form and Online Test
The candidates should finish the online test to complete the application procedure. Stage I of the selection process includes the following:
- The applicant can provide detailed information in the application form.
- They should convince the selection committee on why they would be a perfect fit for the fellowship.
- After submitting the application form, the candidates should attend the online test (AMCAT). It is a one hour test, and it mainly focuses on english language and situational judgement.
Stage II - Telephonic Interview
The committee will shortlist the candidates based on the applications and the Teach for India fellowship results of the online test. The selection process in stage II involves the following:
- The shortlisted candidates should attend a telephonic interview with one of the Teach for India fellowship members.
- It will be a 30-minute telephonic interview to know more about the applicant.
Stage III - Assessment Centre
Stage III of the selection process involves the following:
- The candidates shortlisted from the second stage should attend the assessment centre in person.
- They are required to give a five-minute demo class, participate in a group discussion and problem-solving activity.
- The candidates will have a face-to-face interview for an hour with a Teach for India (TFI) staff member.
Note: Candidates who are staying overseas can attend the interview and participate in relevant activities over skype.
