The MG University Grading System grades its students based on the regulations set under the CBCS system. The new Mahatma Gandhi University grading system was implemented in 2017 and is being followed by all the colleges in Kerala.
MG University Grading System grades its students based on the percentage secured by candidates in the exam. Candidates who score a percentage of 95 and above will get a grade point of 10. Mahatma Gandhi University grading system evaluates each course paper based on internal and external assessments.
The Mahatma Gandhi University, or MG University, is a public university in Kottayam, Kerala. The grading system was revised and implemented in the 2017–2018 academic year according to the CBCS regulations. Except for Professional and B.Voc. rest, all other courses taught at Mahatma Gandhi University have been regulated under the CBCS system.

Analysis of MG University Grading System
MG University grading system evaluates each course paper based on internal and external assessments. All papers (theory and practical) will be evaluated on a 7-point scale based on the total percentage of marks obtained in (internal+external). The percentage of marks obtained by a student decides their grade and grade point.

MG University Grading System Based on GPA
Students must keep the following points in mind regarding The MG University Grading System
- A separate minimum of 30% marks each for internal and external (for both theory and
- practical), and an aggregate minimum of 35% is required for a pass for a paper.
- For a pass in a programme, a separate minimum of Grade D is required for all the individual papers.
- If a candidate secures an F Grade for any one of the papers offered in a Semester/Programme, only an F grade will be awarded for that Semester/Programme until they improve their grade to at least a D.
