MHT CET 2023 Reservation Criteria Specification
Candidates looking to apply for reservation benefits in the 2023 MHT CET need to be aware of certain information that is crucial in claiming the reservation benefits of MHT CET.
- The reservations will only apply to students belonging to the state of Maharashtra.

MHT CET 2023 Reservation Details
The reservation of seats for candidates from the backward class groups in the state of Maharashtra is as follows.
1. Reservation for Women Candidates
There is a reservation of 30 per cent of women's seats per the provisions of Government Resolution No. (123/2000)/ GEC-1000 / Tech. Edu.-1, dated April 17, 2000. However, there will be no reservation of seats for women who come under the categories of Defense, Persons with Disabilities, and Orphans.
2. Reservations for Children of Defense Service Personnel
A reservation of 5 per cent of seats of an institution's total approved intake, subject to a limit of 5 seats in each CAP institution, is reserved for the children of ex-service personnel residing in Maharashtra. This reservation also includes:
- Children of active service staff (DEF-3) who are transferred to the state of Maharashtra if they do not have a domicile status in the state of Maharashtra.
- Children who have appeared and passed the HSC examination from a college or school in the state of Maharashtra are stationed in the state under the provision of family accommodation retention at the last duty station on the grounds of education for children but do not belong to the state.
3. Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD Candidates)
Five per cent of every CAP institution's seats are allocated for people with disabilities. The minimum disability threshold has to be 40 per cent for one to avail of this reservation. In addition, the candidates must submit certificates issued by the competent authorities. The disabilities that account for the reservation are given below.

4. Reservations for EWS Candidates
The Economically Weaker Candidates are allotted 10 per cent of seats under the MHT CET Reservation Criteria. These 10 per cent of seats reserved are supposed to be more than the actual sanctioned intake.
5. Reservations for Orphan Candidates
Under the reservation category, Orphan candidates are assigned 1% of the CAP seats. However, this excludes All India Seats and minority institutions.
MHT CET 2023 - How to Apply for Reservation?
For claiming reservation benefits, the candidate has to apply for reservation faultlessly by following the correct procedure. The steps to follow while applying for a reservation are given below.
- Candidates must correctly fill out the application form for MHT CET 2023.
- The caste, disability and other valid certificates and testimonials must be submitted along with the Preference form.
- Submitting the 2023 MHT CET reservation form is mandatory, without which candidates will not be granted reservation seats.
MHT CET 2023 Reservation - Preference Form
The preference form that needs to be filled and submitted along with the required documents after the announcement of the merit list is essential for candidates to claim reservations. The proper process involved in submitting the preference form is listed here.
- After the MHT CET 2023 merit list gets declared, candidates will be invited to fill out the preference form.
- The preference forms must be filled and submitted at the Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad centres.
- Candidates must meet the required eligibility criteria and provide the necessary documents.
- These documents to be submitted include Photo ID Proof, Domicile Certificate, Nationality Certificate, HSC Mark Sheet, Constitutional Reservation Claim, Specified Reservation Claim, Medical Fitness Certificate, Additional Weightage Claim and SSC Mark Sheet, School Leaving Certificate and Birth Certificate.
Exceptions to MHT CET Reservations 2023
The exception in the reservation categories is the candidates from the Special Backward Classes(SBC) that include the classes of Scheduled Tribes (ST), Vimukta Jati (VJ / DT – v), Nomadic Tribes (NT & c), Nomadic Tribes (NT & d), Nomadic Tribes (NT & M) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
These candidates should apply with their names under the non-creamy layer certificate as stated in the Government resolution to claim the benefits of reservation. The candidate will be prosecuted under the Caste Certificate Act, 2000, when they do not follow the legal procedure and demand reservation through other means.
MHT CET 2023 - Eligibility Criteria
The Eligibility Criteria must be met by the candidates who take MHT CET to be considered for admission to colleges that offer admission through the exam. The eligibility criteria for MHT CET 2023 are as follows.
- The candidates must be of Indian nationality.
- The candidates must have qualified for the 12th standard or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from any recognized board.
Students yet to appear for the Class 12 board exams in 2023 are also eligible to take the exam. MHT CET has no age limitation for candidates appearing for the exam.
