MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2025

MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 includes certain conditions that the candidates must meet to take up admission to various undergraduate programs like B.Tech/B.Pharma/B.E and more. 

For B.Tech admission through the MHT CET entrance exam, the student must have completed class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 45% and qualify for the MHT CET entrance exam. Candidates should also read the MH CET 2025 reservation criteria carefully before applying for the exam.

Furthermore, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education for Maharashtra, Uday Samant, stated, "It has been decided to now give the CET scores and Class 12 scores equal weight following a conversation with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. This will assist students in building a strong base for Class 12 academics. Students were only paying attention to the CET under the current system."

MHT CET 2025 Category-Wise Eligibility Criteria

Through this exam, candidates can occupy 85% of all the seats available at the private, unaided Engineering colleges of Maharashtra. MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 for applicants belonging to different categories are discussed below:

  • State Quota: The candidates residing in Maharashtra can be eligible under this quota. Additional eligibility criteria are as follows: 12th percentage required for MHT CET, the applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. In addition to that, the candidate should also have studied chemistry, biotechnology, biology, technical subjects, or vocational subjects. Or The applicant must possess a Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. Degree issued by a university recognized by the UGC. The Qualifying marks for candidates in the General (UR) category are 50%, and for Reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwD) are 45%. The applicant should have studied Mathematics in class XII.
  • All India Quota and J& K Migrants: The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Even the applicants possess a Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. Degrees issued by a university recognized by the UGC are also eligible. Qualifying marks for candidates in the General (UR) category is 50%, and for the Reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, PwD) is 45%.
  • Wards of NRI, OCI, Person of Indian Origin, Indian workers in Gulf Countries, or Foreign Nationals: The applicant must have passed class 12th from the recognised university. The applicant should also have studied chemistry, biology, biotechnology, or other technical or vocational subjects along with the two subjects mentioned above. The applicant should have secured a minimum of 50% in all the subjects combined.

CET Eligibility Criteria 2025: Maharashtra State Candidature

All the candidates who can prove their domicile status as residents of Maharashtra can apply for MHT CET 2025 under this quota. 

There are 5 types of Maharashtra State candidatures given in the application form. Out of those, the applicant has to pick the one that suits them best. The MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 for  specifications of each are discussed in the table below.

Type A

The applicants who were born in Maharashtra and have qualified SSC and HSC/Diploma in Engineering/Bachelor of Science exam from Maharashtra

Type B

Candidates whose mother or father are residents of the state, and also have a domicile certificate to prove it.

Type C

A candidate whose parent is either employed by the Government of India or a Government of India Undertaking and is posted in the state till the last date of MHT CET 2025 application form submission

Type D

Candidates whose parents are either serving the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra Undertaking or have retired from their post.

Type E

The applicants who passed SSC and HSC from a school situated on the disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border portion, and the applicant's mother tongue is Marathi

Candidates not belonging to the state are also eligible to apply for the exam if they fulfil the MH CET eligibility criteria for other state students, which is set by the exam conducting body for the following candidates such as for Minority groups, ward of Defence personnel and physically challenged students. MHT CET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Minority Candidates

The State Government has framed a list of minority communities, the candidates must belong to any minority communities as per the given list. Here are the important pointers of MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 for minority candidates is below for students' reference. 

  • Students domiciled in a place situated in the area specified as Maharashtra-Karnataka disputed border are eligible.
  • The grouping criteria for the 12th is nothing, but the student should have passed the 10+2 examination from a school in the disputed border area and qualified for the MHT CET entrance exam.
  • Applicants must produce a Domicile certificate from the Principal/Headmaster of the College/School.
  • The candidates whose mother tongue is Marathi will also be required to produce a certificate from the Principal/Headmaster of the College from where they qualified 12th standard examination.
  • Aspirants should have studied Marathi as one of the subjects in 10+2 or equivalent examination.

MHT CET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Ward of Defence Personnel

If a student's parents serve as defense personnel in Maharashtra, and even if a parent formerly served as defense personnel in Maharashtra, their children are eligible to appear for the MHT CET exam 2025.

MHT CET 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Person with Disabilities (PwD) 2025

MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 for students with physical disabilities must produce a Proforma (F/F-1) certificate stating disability less than 40% are eligible to appear for MHT CET 2025.

  • NRI, PIO, OCI, or wards of Indian citizens working in the Gulf or foreign nationals need not appear for MHT CET 2025.
  • Candidates applying through All India Candidature can submit their JEE Main scores for admission to B.E. and B.Tech courses. However, for admission to B.Pharm or Pharm.D, they must appear for MHT CET 2025.
  • The MH CET eligibility criteria 2025 for admission in B.E./B.tech candidates must belong to Maharashtra State or Minority Candidature.

MHT CET 2025 Conditions to Avail the Scribe Facility

The State Commission lists MHT CET eligibility criteria 2025 for students with physical challenges. The conducting authorities allow the applicants with more than 40% disability to get the help of a scribe to write the examination.

Such candidates are also given 20 extra minutes to solve the test. Some additional information for the candidates who may require this facility is discussed below for their reference. 

  • Candidates who are visually impaired, have low vision, have cerebral palsy, suffer from any learning disability, or are not in the position to write the exam on their own due to any other reasons can avail of this option.
  • Students will have to find a scribe for themselves.
  • The scribe facility declaration form will be available on the official website, and candidates must fill it out completely and attach the scribe's photograph to the document.
  • The student must paste photographs of the candidate and the scribe with signatures and submit this declaration form before reporting to the examination hall on the examination day to the "Venue Officer".
  • Candidates must not forget to carry the original certificate of disability and the admit card during the examination.
