In Maharashtra, students' performance in Class 12 and the Common Entrance Test (CET) will be considered equally when determining the merit list for undergraduate professional and technical courses beginning in the next academic year, according to Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant.

The minister told reporters on Tuesday in Pune, meeting with officials from several educational schools, that the new system will be implemented in the academic year, not this year. Only CET scores would not be considered for admittance to professional courses under the new approach, according to Samant. "Students are focusing solely on the CET under the current system.

However, following a conversation with the Chief Minister, it has been agreed that the CET and Class 12 grades will now be given equal weightage. This will assist pupils in establishing a solid foundation for their Class 12 academics "Samant expressed his thoughts.

Samant also stated that similar to the JEE system, students will have the option of taking a second CET if they are not satisfied with their performance in the first CET. "It's possible that the exam (second test) would be held quickly after the first CET findings," he stated.
