This course can be pursued after completing the 12th board examination. The duration of the course is 3 years for most of the colleges. However, for a few the course duration is 4 years.

What is CA?
The full form of CA is Chartered Accountancy. This is a professional course that includes auditing, accounting, financial assessment, taxation, and other relevant work. In order to be called a Chartered Accountant, a candidate must hold a certificate from the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). Studying Chartered Accountancy also requires a candidate to crack the entrance exams. A Chartered Accountant who is professionally trained and has received the ICAI certificate can practise the profession.
One can enrol in this course through two ways - Direct Entry Route and Foundation Course Route. Direct Entry Route doesn't require the candidate to appear for the CA entrance examination, unlike the Foundation Course Route.

The eligibility criteria to get admission to the CA course through the Foundation Route are:
- The candidate must pass the Class 12 board examination.
- The candidate must have completed a study period of 4 months after the registration for CA in order to be eligible for the Foundation examination.
The eligibility criteria to enrol in the CA course through the Direct Entry Route are:
- The graduates and postgraduates from the Commerce stream with a score of not less than 55% can apply. The topics covered in class 12 must include Accounting, Mercantile Laws, Economics, Auditing, Corporate Laws, Management, Taxation, Costing, Business Administration, etc.
- The graduates and postgraduates from other streams must have scored at least 60% in aggregate.
- Candidates are also eligible after passing the intermediate-level exam conducted by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India or The Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
