GRE to GMAT Conversion Formula 2023
As discussed above, there are different ways in which GRE to GMAT score conversion 2023 can be done, which involves three formulas altogether. The first formula predicts the GMAT Total scores from the GRE General Test scores. The second and third formulae predict the GMAT Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning scores from the GRE Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning scores. The formula for the GMAT Total is as follows:
The GMAT Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning scores are treated individually during calculation. They are as follows:
It’s been said that there are standard errors in the predicted scores. For Verbal Reasoning, the standard error value is 5.97(9.617x sqrt(1-(0.787)2)) whilst the standard error for Quantitative Reasoning is 5.73(12.170x sqrt(1 - (0.882)2)).
GRE to GMAT Percentile Conversion 2023
Now, if you weren’t sure how exactly the GRE percentile conversion works from GRE to GMAT, then the following table should give you a fair idea of it. What the percentiles do is that it help factor in your competition from other academic bodies. There is some room for error, but they only mean to provide an estimate of your competitive, academic performance during the admission process, nothing more.
Percentile | GMAT (0-60) | GRE (130-170) |
Verbal Reasoning Percentile Comparison
99 | 51-60 | 169-170 |
0 | 0-6 | 130 |
Quantitative Reasoning Percentile Comparison
97 | 51 | 170 |
0 | 6 | 132 |
It’s important to note that the scores are still different between GRE and GMAT. For example, if you obtain 90% in your GRE Quant, then it doesn’t mean you’ve achieved the same in GMAT Quant. So the logic behind the conversion process mustn’t be directed by the sort demonstrated here.
There are many factors that come into play when converting these scores. As mentioned above, the percentile ranking is merely an estimate, and a pool of GRE test-takers will always be different from the GMAT test-taking pool, even if the differences are small.
GRE to GMAT Conversion Accuracy 2023
How accurate is the GRE to GMAT score conversion 2023? Well, there are two opinions regarding that. On one hand, ETS claims that the conversion chart is accurate but on the other hand, GMAC claims these charts to be not accurate.
But the fact is, whether accurate or not, these charts provide you an idea about the probable score with respect to scoring in the other exam. This will help candidates to understand where they stand with respect to the other exam.
Good Score in GRE and GMAT 2023
“What is a good score in GRE and GMAT?” A common question with many answers. Your best bet would be to keep a range of good scores in place so that earning a score within the range can be considered good.
With that said, obtaining a total score between 310 to 315 is always a good GRE score if you want to get into the top business schools. This means that obtaining a minimum score that falls within the 155-159 range in both the sections (Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning) is the best. Any GRE score beyond 325 is considered brilliant.
