IIT Packages 2022

IIT Packages have become the envy of all engineering colleges in India. The Indian Institute Of Technology students have bagged over 5000 jobs over the past couple of months across all the IITs in core engineering profiles. Most IITs have received 450-500 jobs each in the first two days of the campus drive. The authorities in charge say that the trend is encouraging as many are willing to pay a higher salary and recruit for core profiles. Even the deadly Covid-19 pandemic had not managed to bring the recruitment at IITs to a halt.

IIT Placements in Detail

Most of the top IITs in India have become the hotspots of placement drives for engineering graduates. These students are eagerly snapped up by the top companies or pursue further education in other top institutions such as IIMs and other top B-Schools. Below are the placement details of some of the top IITs in India.

IIT Bombay Placements

IIT Bombay is recognized worldwide for imparting the best technical education in the country. IIT Bombay is the second of its kind, the first to be set up with foreign assistance. IIT Bombay carried out the placement drive for the batch of 2019 from August 2018 and was carried out till June 2019. During this placement drive, 361 companies gave candidates placement and pre-placement offers.

A total of 1695 students registered for placements and 1995 students for internship programs. The highest cost to the company (CTC) in phase 1 of the placement drive was INR 45 LPA. The initial recruitment phase included a variety of firms from sectors like Engineering and Technology, Oil and Gas, IT & Software, FCMG, Electronic Hardware, Data Analytics, Finance, Banking, etc. The Engineering and Technology department bagged the highest offers with an average package of about INR 18.5 LPA. The top recruiters participating in the 2019 placement drives were Samsung, Adobe, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, and Qualcomm.

IIT Delhi Placements

IIT Delhi is ranked 2nd among all the government engineering colleges. IIT Delhi is known for its outstanding records for placement. Top companies across the globe try to visit this campus to secure the brightest minds in the country. Usually, the placement drives for the final year students start in December. Mostly 70% of the candidates get placed by the end of the first phase of the placement drive. The placement process goes on until April/May.

IIT Delhi witnessed a huge 960 offers in the 1st phase of the placement drives. Many students received multiple offers from different companies. Among all the offers made, 175 were pre-placement offers(PPOs). Students have been offered various job profiles such as analytics, consulting, core, finance, information technology, and research and training.

This Year IIT Delhi is expected to receive job offers from 600 job profiles from different companies. The companies that visit the IIT Delhi campus for placements are Microsoft, Societe Generale, Master Card, Standard Chartered, Uber, Squarepoint, Qualcomm, and Goldman Sachs. Microsoft was the only company to provide a package of 1.4 Crore, the highest recorded package on the campus. According to IIT Delhi, the students were more inclined towards domestic jobs this year than international job profiles. Moreover, there is a rise in the number of students selected for core companies compared to the previous years.

IIT Kharagpur Placements

IIT Kharagpur is one of the country's most reputed IITs, providing 100% placement assistance to students. Usually, the 1st phase of the placements for the final year students starts in December. Every year top companies visit the campus to extract young minds of the country. The highest package that is offered is INR 1 Crore every year. The students of IIT Kharagpur have bagged jobs in top companies like Microsoft, Infosys, Google, etc. International companies from Singapore, the US, Korea, etc., also visit the campus.

During the first phase of the 2020 placement drive, almost 144 companies have already visited the campus and international participation. In total, there have been 51 offers made by International companies. Students have been offered job profiles from different sectors in this session. Some of the sectors which absorbed most students this year were Core Engineering sectors, hardware, software, finance, and consulting. Banking sectors reports from the placement cell of IIT Kharagpur suggest that almost 280 offers were made as a pre-placement offers, and Public Sector INR made 19 offers. In 2018-19 placements, the Japanese firms dominated the International placement drive. Among the Japanese companies, Rakuten was one of the highest-paid jobs.

IIT Madras Placements

IIT Madras performed exceptionally in the case of placement assistance provided to students during the past year. The first phase of the placement drive begins in December. Top companies visit the campus to provide almost 75-80% guaranteed placements. Some top companies visiting the campus are Samsung, Microsoft, Infosys, J.P Morgan, Amazon, Deloitte, etc. Companies from Japan, Korea, etc., also visit the campus annually. More than 100 job offers were made to the institute's students on the first day of the phase 1 placement drive. IIT Madras also offers students PPOs, and there was an increase in the number of offers that students received. One hundred fifty-eight offers were made to the students this year compared to last year's 135 offers Brain&Co, Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey were some of the international consulting firms that offered 13 jobs in total. 

The 2018-2019 academic season received 888 job offers in the first phase of the placement drive. The top recruiters who offered the maximum number of jobs are Micron Technology. INC, Capgemini Technology Services, J.P Morgan, ANI Technologies, American Express, Mahindra & Mahindra, GE, Flipkart, EY, Qualcomm, Citibank, Microsoft, etc. 335 of hiring was done by the consulting sectors. In contrast, the other 37% was done by the Core, Research and Development sector.

IIT Guwahati Placements

IIT Guwahati is a premiere Institute that offers excellent placement assistance to students. The final year placement program for IIT Guwahati students generally starts in December. Every year various national and multinational companies visit the campus to absorb the brightest minds in IIT Guwahati for various domestic and international roles. Before the commencement of the placement process, IIT Guwahati prepares the students in various aspects such as facing the placement interview, clearing placement tests, placement guidance, etc. The institute's placement cell is active in providing all these facilities to students. At the same time, it invites top companies to be a part of the placement process of the institute. Some top recruiters visiting the campus are Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, Uber, etc. 

According to reports by the IIT Guwahati placement cell, almost 250 companies are visiting the campus this year which has increased from last year's 200 for the whole process. Many companies are visiting the campus this year for the first time, such as Atlassian, Accenture Japan, Analog Device, Quadeye Securities, and Human Resocia, which has led to an increase in the overall total companies that are visiting this year. Uber and Microsoft offered the highest salary recorded, i.e. INR 1.51 Crore and INR 1.06 Crore, respectively, in the 2018-19 year. 

During this year's placement drive, some top recruiters were Microsoft, American Express, Goldman Sachs, Google, Nutanix, Uber, Oracle, Walmart, Amazon, Qualcomm, Adobe, Intel, etc. It is also expected that three PSUs, namely GAIL, POSCO, and BEL, will be in the IIT-G 2022 placements.

IIT Hyderabad Placements

Indian Institute of Hyderabad is amongst the eight recently inaugurated IITs in the country. It was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. IIT Hyderabad invites almost 200 companies for placement drives on the campus annually for various institute departments. The Placement and Training Cell of the college prepares its students for the responsibility needed while having a job. It also prepares its students for interview rounds so that they can achieve their desires.

Both government and private companies visit the campus. The first phase of the 2020 placement drive in IIT-H starts in December. By the end of the drive, 291 offers from 91 different companies have been offered to the students of IIT-H. Among the offers made to the students, 37 were pre-placement offers, and six offers were made by international companies such as TSMC, SMS Data Tech, and NTT-AT. Some top recruiters in IIT-H are Microsoft, D.E Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, TSMC, Jaguar, Sprinkler, etc.
