Chandigarh College of Architecture was established in 1961 at the behest of Le Corbusier as part of the “Chandigarh Project''. The Chandigarh Project was the most significant and daring experiment in architecture and urban planning of the 20th century. The college is a premier institution of the entire north-western region covering Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir,Rajasthan as well as the U.Ts of Chandigarh imparting architectural education at the national, regional and city level. Since 2012 onwards the college has been rated amongst the top 3 institutions in architecture. A large number of alumni are doing extremely well professionally in architectural practice in government and public sector, teaching or research. The college is affiliated to Panjab University in Chandigarh and its courses are AICTE approved.

B.Arch.
The college offers a 5 year program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Architecture. This program is affiliated to the Panjab University in the Faculty of Design and Fine Arts. The Bachelor's degree is a 10 semester program where the first five semesters concentrate on the theory and the next five semesters focuses on equipping the students with practical experience.
M.Arch
The college offers a 2 year full time degree of Master of Architecture program. This program is affiliated to the Panjab University in the Faculty of Design and Fine Arts.
The college has well equipped air-conditioned computer lab’s for students, state of art library, smart classroom, material museum, lighting lab, assembly hall, seminar room, construction yard, separate hostel facility and well endowed studios and workshop facilities. Apart from these the college regularly conducts joint studio programs with students from leading international institutions. The library provides a seating capacity for 80 students and has 27165 titles, subscription to 8 newspapers annually, 53 national and international journals, 3 e-journals and 1773 bound periodicals. The two computer laboratories are equipped with an adequate number of computers,laptops,plotters,printers and scanners. All the systems in the lab have the latest design software. The college workshop provides hands on experience and is equipped with machines and tools which have resulted in numerous innovative working models. The assembly hall in the college has a seating capacity of 200 people and is facilitated with air conditioning. Acoustic treatment etc. The hall is used for presentations,lectures and student seminars. The student centre is a set of two independent blocks which is used for holding dinners, birthdays and inter house events.
The college has its students working in successful establishments, in government and public undertakings, teaching and research fields etc. CCA has a dedicated placement cell which guides and trains its students so that they become successful in their interested job profiles. The college equips its students by making them participate in numerous events and projects thus giving them an ultimate understanding of the real life work environment.

The college’s admission is made on the basis of the All India Rank prepared by NTA on Basis of score in JEE(Main) paper II (B.Architecture/B.Planning). Once a candidate is offered an admission they will be required to remit a deposit of Rs.40,000 approximately on spot as the tuition fee. On the day of physical reporting the candidates are required to bring their original documents as mentioned below along with a set of photocopies. The details to be filled in the online application form for the master’s program includes name of the candidate, gender of the candidate, nationality, mobile number and so on.
CCA provides hostel accommodations for both boys and girls. The boys hostel is located right behind the campus. Whereas the girls hostel is located in sector 11. Candidates seeking a hostel facility should make sure they request for one on the date of physical admission at the college. A separate application is to be filled on the day of physical admission for document verification or else that candidate will not be provided with the hostel facility. This is very important since the intake count is low for each academic year.
Boys Hostel
The boys hostel was set up in 1961 at the Corbu House with 99 rooms distributed in three storied buildings. All the rooms are of single occupancy with adequate lighting and ventilation. The hostel also accommodates boys from Punjab Engineering College and CCET. The hostel has a complete North Indian mess, laundry facility, four guest rooms, outdoor sports such as volleyball, badminton and football within the hostel boundary. Indoor games such as table tennis and carrom are provided in the common room of the hostel. Apart from these the hostel also has DG set for power backup, reading room with various newspapers and magazines, Wi-Fi and CCTV surveillance. The hostel has adequate parking facilities for both two and four wheelers in addition to lawn for the residents' usage.
Girls Hostel
The Architecture Girls Hostel at sector 11 was established in 1982. It has 105 rooms including 7 guest rooms and a reading room. The hostel is a 3 storied building with adequate lighting and ventilation. Students from CCA,Govt.College of Arts and PEC share the girls hostel. Number of social and cultural activities are conducted by its residents throughout the year. The facilities provided by the hostel are mess and canteen, laundry, single occupancy rooms, sports and fitness facilities, badminton court, gym, DG set for backup power, monthly magazine and newspaper and Wi-Fi facility. Adding to these the hostel has enough parking facilities, lawn and CCTV surveillance.
