Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women situated in Chandigarh, India is popularly known as MCM DAV was established in 1968. MCM DAV was established by the DAV College Managing Committee located in New Delhi to commemorate the meritorious services rendered by Justice Mehr Chand Maharajan who was the former Chief Justice of India. Justice Mehr Chand Maharajan is a distinguished legal luminary, great patriot, administrator par excellence, committed educationist, social reformer, and humanist. The college has completed 51 glorious years of its inception and has imparted outstanding service to humanity in its illustrious 5 decade-existence rendering exemplary contributions in the fields of education, sports, culture, sustainable development, and community empowerment. Owing to its excellence in varied fields, the College has been re-accredited with Grade “A” by NAAC.  MCM DAV as of now offers 6 UG, 8 PG, 2 PG Diploma, and 6 certificate programs and the institution houses 31 departments in total. The institution has been awarded the Star Status by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is the first private-aided College in the city to be approved as a Research Centre in the subject of English by Panjab University, Chandigarh. MCM DAV ranks among the top 50 colleges at the national level, as per the surveys conducted by India Today and The Week magazine. The college launched an Open Defecation Free (ODF) Drive in 2019, under Swachhta Action Plan, MHRD, to successfully achieve ODF status for its two adopted villages, Bagheri and Butera.

The college offers a wide range of mind blowing infrastructure facilities for the students. Some among the many facilities provided by the institution include library, labs, college buildings, medical facilities, auditoriums, facilities for the physically challenged, digital lounge, green arenas,Open air theatre,ICT enabled classrooms, herbal Garden, state of art multimedia hall, conference hall, Wi-Fi campus, Solar panels, music room, biogas plant, rain water harvesting, water boosting system and many more.The College offers a spacious, fully computerized open shelf library. The total area of the library is 5170 Sq. ft. The library has more than 38,000 books and subscribes to 54 journals and 51 magazines. In addition to this collection, the library also has e- resources subscribed through INFLIBNET and other databases. Besides it receives 28 newspapers. Library remains open to all students from 9 am to 6 pm on all working days. The library uses LIBSYS -Software with latest edition of Web Centric LSEase which enables working in an integrated multi-user and networked environment.The College has well planned laboratories on the campus which are equipped with the models and instruments for the students, so that they can understand practically and effectively, what they have learnt in the classroom. There are about thirty laboratories present at the college facilitating every department separately. The college has an adequate number of lifts, ramps and separate restrooms designed for the physically challenged candidates.The college has a physical education center with qualified physical education teachers and coaches. The college has facilities for various games and sports. It has full-fledged gymnasium play fields for Football, Hockey, Cricket, Baseball, Kho-kho etc, courts for Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton.

Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women Eligibility Criteria

The college has certain eligibility criteria to be fully filled by the students in order to be eligible for the various programs offered by the institution. The students only who complete the Add-on Certificate Course in First-Year will be eligible for Diploma and Advanced Diploma in CMT, IDD, and VDO in Second and Third Year respectively.

MCM DAV offers admission to its prospective students by two methods, one is through the Online College Admission which is regulated by the college and the second one is through the Online Centralized Admission which is regulated by the DHE. The candidates applying to the college can refer the general instructions to be followed while applying from the following steps,

• The candidates should begin with thoroughly reading the eligibility criteria to make sure they are eligible for that particular course/program.
• Applicants seeking admission to courses regulated through college should fill in the application form available on the official page.
• Admission to the courses will be carried out by the college based on the guidelines of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
• Applicants seeking admission to courses through DHE shall fill in the application form available on the DHE portal.

• The candidates who are approved for admission are asked to pay the admission fee with 24 hours and to obtain the fee receipt from the student dashboard after the payment of fees.
• The candidates will then be allotted a date on which they should produce the original documents for verification.

MCM DAV offers hostel facilities for far residing students and for foreign national students within the campus premises for approximately 1000 students. The well furnished hostel comprises six sprawling blocks with the latest amenities providing a home away from home.It is one of the most sought after destinations for accommodation across the region for its facilities and secure atmosphere.There are designer rooms for quality lifestyle, spacious common rooms for developing personal bonds, Friends Lounge for strengthening friendship, Evening Cafeteria for tasty bites in the evening, Digital Lounge and Mini-Library for regular updation of knowledge and Ru-ba-roo for the exchange of creative ideas.

Requirements for Hostel Accommodation

• Mere submission of application form does not ensure admission.
• Admission will be provisional till the time of declaration of University Examination results.
• The Principal holds the discretion to grant or refuse admission to the Hostel to any student without giving any reason.
• It is mandatory to carry a copy of the Medical Fitness Certificate by an authorized medical practitioner at the time of entry to the Hostel. The Medical Certificate should carry the information of the blood group of the student. If a student is suffering from any allergy or sensitivity to any medicine, then the same should also be mentioned. Students suffering from any chronic or infectious disease such as asthma, migraine, TB, epilepsy or hysteria will not be admitted.  
• All students, old and new, seeking hostel accommodation are required to get a printout of the duly filled Hostel Admission Form, Visitor's Form, Certificate of Medical Fitness (in the given format) and Hostel Fee receipt at the time of hostel entry.
