Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women situated in Chandigarh, India is popularly known as MCM DAV was established in 1968. MCM DAV was established by the DAV College Managing Committee located in New Delhi to commemorate the meritorious services rendered by Justice Mehr Chand Maharajan who was the former Chief Justice of India. Justice Mehr Chand Maharajan is a distinguished legal luminary, great patriot, administrator par excellence, committed educationist, social reformer, and humanist. The college has completed 51 glorious years of its inception and has imparted outstanding service to humanity in its illustrious 5 decade-existence rendering exemplary contributions in the fields of education, sports, culture, sustainable development, and community empowerment. Owing to its excellence in varied fields, the College has been re-accredited with Grade “A” by NAAC. MCM DAV as of now offers 6 UG, 8 PG, 2 PG Diploma, and 6 certificate programs and the institution houses 31 departments in total. The institution has been awarded the Star Status by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is the first private-aided College in the city to be approved as a Research Centre in the subject of English by Panjab University, Chandigarh. MCM DAV ranks among the top 50 colleges at the national level, as per the surveys conducted by India Today and The Week magazine. The college launched an Open Defecation Free (ODF) Drive in 2019, under Swachhta Action Plan, MHRD, to successfully achieve ODF status for its two adopted villages, Bagheri and Butera.

MCM DAV offers M.Phil/Ph.D in English which is approved by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The college offers a wide range of mind blowing infrastructure facilities for the students. Some among the many facilities provided by the institution include library, labs, college buildings, medical facilities, auditoriums, facilities for the physically challenged, digital lounge, green arenas,Open air theatre,ICT enabled classrooms, herbal Garden, state of art multimedia hall, conference hall, Wi-Fi campus, Solar panels, music room, biogas plant, rain water harvesting, water boosting system and many more.The College offers a spacious, fully computerized open shelf library. The total area of the library is 5170 Sq. ft. The library has more than 38,000 books and subscribes to 54 journals and 51 magazines. In addition to this collection, the library also has e- resources subscribed through INFLIBNET and other databases. Besides it receives 28 newspapers. Library remains open to all students from 9 am to 6 pm on all working days. The library uses LIBSYS -Software with latest edition of Web Centric LSEase which enables working in an integrated multi-user and networked environment.The College has well planned laboratories on the campus which are equipped with the models and instruments for the students, so that they can understand practically and effectively, what they have learnt in the classroom. There are about thirty laboratories present at the college facilitating every department separately. The college has an adequate number of lifts, ramps and separate restrooms designed for the physically challenged candidates.The college has a physical education center with qualified physical education teachers and coaches. The college has facilities for various games and sports. It has full-fledged gymnasium play fields for Football, Hockey, Cricket, Baseball, Kho-kho etc, courts for Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton.
The college has a placement cell which arduously works towards bridging the industry-academia gap by appraising the students of the industry demands and providing the industry opportunities to select the best talent with requisite skills.
