University Institute of Legal Studies was established as a constituent department of Panjab University, in the academic session 2004-05. The University has emerged as one of the leading legal institutes with a unique blend of tradition and modernity.  Students are trained in the essence of the substantive law, methods of the client counseling and skills in Legal and Social science research etc. New exposure through internships with Hon'ble Judges of Supreme court, Punjab and Haryana High court, legal firms, various commisions and NGO's is provided to the students for developing their skills. The Moot court competitions, client counseling session, Quiz contests seminars, Group discussions and Extension lectures etc. are extracurricular activities that are involved in the academic calendar of the Institute. • UILS has a fully functional Placement cell that acts as an interface between the Legal and the students.

• The candidate can apply online on the official website of the university.
• You can also buy the form from the corporate office in the corresponding sessions.
• For other courses, admission is done on the basis of merit and an interview session held by the University.
• The final selection list is drawn by the Selection Committee of the University.

University Institute of Legal Studies Cutoffs:

• The Merit list for Admission is prepared out of 200 marks
• It would be based on cumulative score of the candidate in entrance test and Qualifying examination.
• Details are as follows: 50% of 200 (100 marks for Entrance Test) & 50% of 200 marks (100 marks for the Qualifying Examination)

• There are seventeen Residence Halls for students on the campus.
• 8 each for boys and 9 for girls.
• Accommodation for more than 6000 students is available.
• University provides a neat and clean environment and a comfortable place to live in.
• There are Wardens/ Hostel Staff on duty round the clock.
• Each hostel has a dining hall and canteen, several deserts and water coolers, a visitors' lounge, and invariably an outdoor court.
