The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSAUA&T), Kanpur, is a premier institution for agricultural research and education in India. Established in 1893 as a training school for revenue officers, it evolved into the Government Agriculture College (1906), the U.P. Institute of Agricultural Sciences (1969), and finally CSAUA&T in 1975, following the merger of its constituent colleges. The university comprises eight colleges spread across Kanpur, Etawah, and Lakhimpur, catering to the agricultural needs of 29 districts in six divisions of Uttar Pradesh. It operates in diverse climatic zones, ranging from sub-humid to semi-arid, with soils varying from alluvial to sandy and black.
