G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, established in 1955, is named after freedom fighter Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi. It was the first medical college in Uttar Pradesh post-independence and one of five medical colleges established under the second five-year plan. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, in 1956. Dr. S.N. Mathur was the first principal of the college.

GSVM Medical College UG Admission

GSVM Medical College offers a 5.6-year MBBS program with an intake of 250 seats. Candidates must complete 12th with a minimum of 50% marks in PCB (45% for reserved categories) and a minimum of 17 years old at admission. Selection is based on NEET UG scores, followed by counseling conducted by MCC for 15% AIQ seats and DMET for 85% State Quota seats. The course fee is INR 36,000. Students clearing NEET must register for Uttar Pradesh State-level Counseling for final admission.

GSVM Medical College offers MD, MS, and PG Diploma programs with a duration of three years. Admission requires candidates to have completed an MBBS degree with a minimum of 55% marks (45% for reserved categories) and a one-year internship recognized by the National Medical Council (NMC). The course fee is INR 42,000. Selection is based on NEET PG scores, followed by UP State-level counseling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET). Specializations include Anatomy, Physiology, Pediatrics, General Medicine, and more.
