The College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar was established in 1981 by the Government of Odisha. It was a component part of agriculture and technology in Bhubaneswar. The university's aim was to grow the technical manpower in the State. The college got affiliated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) in 2002.

College of Engineering and Technology admission is done through the JEE which is conducted by the Government of India/ Odisha. The intake depends upon the technical manpower of the State. CET College offers various courses like B.Arch, B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, and many more.

The campus of the college of engineering and technology is located in the Techno campus at Kalinga Nagar, which is about 2.0 Kms to Bhubaneshwar and the campus covers an area of more than 100 Acres.
