Darbhanga College of Engineering, established in 2008 and inaugurated by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, is a government-owned institution in Bihar. It is affiliated with Bihar Engineering University, Patna, and approved by AICTE. The college is managed by the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. Originally known as Jagannath Mishra Institute of Technology (JMIT), it reopened in 2008 under Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU). In 2011, it became part of Aryabhatta Knowledge University and, in 2023, was affiliated with Bihar Engineering University. The college building, constructed in 1935 by Late Sri Jyoti Prasad Singh, was rebuilt after the 1934 Bihar earthquake and is an earthquake-resistant structure.

Overview
Previously known as Jagannath Mishra Institute of Technology (JMIT), DCE is a government-owned engineering college in Bihar. It is affiliated with Bihar Engineering University, Patna (since 2023) and is AICTE-approved. The college offers a 4-year B.Tech program with four specializations: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering. Admissions are based on JEE Mains or BCECE performance. There are also 12 lateral entry seats for diploma holders. 

Admission Details

• Eligibility: Students must have completed 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks are required (5% relaxation for SC/ST students). The age limit is 17 to 23 years.
• Selection Process: Based on JEE Mains or BCECE. Lateral entry admissions are through a special exam for diploma holders.
