Government Medical College, Surat, was established in 1964 to provide quality education in medical science. The institute is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. The institute is associated with New Civil Hospital, which was established with 300 beds to treat indoor patients. The institute has over 3000 outdoor patients currently and is equipped with spacious, well-ventilated rooms. To ensure the patients' utmost care, the hospital is equipped with all facilities and provides clean and sanitized rooms. GMC Admissions are made based on the entrance examination.

GMC, Surat offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses with various specializations for students to choose from. New Civil Hospital has its nursing and physiotherapy colleges.
