Government Autonomous College, Angul was established in the year 1957 and is a public autonomous college that is located in the Angul District. The institute is the premier Institution for higher education, it started functioning from the academic session 1958-59. Because of the pioneering effort of the then Chief Minister Dr. H. K. Mahatab, the establishment of the college was possible. The status of autonomous was given by the UGC in 2006 and is accredited by NAAC.
It started as an I.Sc College and the name of the institute have been changed several times and in the year 1976, it finalized the name Govt. College, Angul. The institute is affiliated with Utkal University. In 1990 it became one of the leading colleges as well. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate in the field of Arts, Science, and Commerce.
